Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

"Protestors signify public united against Iraq War plan"

It does not...it's was a bunch of sightseers looking for a cheap ride to DC. The organizers have been to DC before with a different "load" of people and it didn't mean squat to the public. The numbers do not represent America.

Get off our butts and do what?

Are you sure that you're at the right place? You act like someone waiting for the government to tell you to wipe your butt. When is the last time you wrote your representative or senators? Do you own an American Flag and fly it every Day? Make a sign up and stand on a busy street corner. Or just sit on your butt and wait for someone to tell you what to do.

The majority of which were just gullible college kids that were crowded in on old school buses at $50.00 a head.

I've never seen evidence that they were paid. Some get free bus rides or substatially subsidized.

Mainly it's a big party for them. For people who grieve the dead, it's only when the cameras are on. The rest of the time it's smiles, dancing, etc, all while bashing America, the troops and Bush. They LOVE to HATE.

This "huge throng" of "tens of thousands" at Saturday's anti-Bush, anti-U.S. military, anti-U. S. demonstrations in D. C. was less than the number who attend EACH Ohio State game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

The stated capacity of Ohio Stadium is: 101,568. It is always a sell-out. The stated capacity is even exceeded in most games there.

So to conceptualize the "huge throng" on Saturday in D. C., simply think of Ohio Stadium and the quantity of spectators therein at each game.

This does make for perspective. Ohio Stadium is large, but it is only a stadium.

The planners and initiators of Saturday's demonstrations can only, after months of preparation and agitating on college campuses and facilitating bus transportation, etc., draw forth less than the total attendance at one Ohio State University football game.

Their only hope may have been that the media would exponentially multiply the protestors' "presence." In numerous instances, this turned out in a negative manner for them: such as photographs of black headwrap-concealed protesters, in the style of Middle Eastern militants, and the spray painting of the Capitol steps.

some of us were spit at a couple years when we were FReeping Hitlery's book signing in Cleveland.. My gentle oliver would have torn into one of the men Had I let him go.. They were terrible antagonists who were upset we were protesting their dream girl

there were about 8 of us & we experienced NOTHING like the radical idiots you did. I had some fear here in Cleveland, I would have needed extra courage to be where you all bravely stood & worked.

Again, very proud of all who did participate

Would some congressman who reads this, please introduce a bill making it a "hate crime" to spit upon or molest a member of the armed forces?
Thanks.

Freepers. We should push for this.

I found the best way to deal with the people leaning over the fence screaming profanity was just to shake my head and laugh.

They hate when you give them the "peace sign" while they are challenging you to fight.

Jen's Mom: We definitely have to start now organizing.

I'll see if a thread can be posted about the March 17 antiwar protest for reference and linking.

All help is encouraged.

Kristinn: Looks like there are FReepers around that want to help. Lets use them to the advantage for the USA.

It was reported that hundred of buses brought most of these people there. Who is paying for all that and how do all those people get time off to go?

Those buses are organized by the old, aging Hippies that protested in the 60s. There's a Philadelphia Inquirer article today where they complain that they are a dying breed and the young kids are NOT following in their footsteps.

please put me on the ping list for your state events like this? My son is in Winston and I lived in that area for 15 years..

Travel is hard for me also as I have a house full of pets and an invalid mom & really no/little money to travel.. but if a friend is able to provide wheels, I can usually make some arrangements for a day or two on the homefront.

I would like to join you in March. My one friend however will be in Japan.. so we will see. Thanks for letting us know

Write a letter! Send it to the district office as opposed to Washington. A hand written note is best.

Saturday night I dropped a snack in to mom's room & she was watching the news covering the buses that were transported from Cleveland..for the protest. It showed large crowds & the reporter mentioned upward of 50,000

Interviewing Kucinich....the pride of NE Ohio /sarc

Kuch did NOT say that number, the reporter did. He was just talking about how against the war he was & how he was the ONLY one to be consistently against it etc.

What do people think of organizing a demonstration to support our President and our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan and Somalia? Maybe for this spring?

The problem is people coming out. Events have been held, speakers showed up. Unfortunately, the lefties are more likely to show up. One, they want to be seen, it feeds their ego that theywill be seen "doing good". Second, they know they'll get coveredd and that has some impact. Our side for some reason discounts that.

All it would take to make every left wing, antiwar, Hate America march totally irrelevant, while literally saving hundres of military lives is for Rush Limbaugh to say four words, "I'm going to DC."
