Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

A lot of us feel all those things! I second your:" The people who rally and march for our Troops, God bless you, those who protest our Troops, well, God knows who you are."

I have two sisters who would be like that if we discussed it.

They know better....

Sad but true.

But you would be surprised at how many so called "average Democrats" will talk like these peace activists.

They appear to be winning the propaganda war.

"Most of these people were core peace activists from their home areas and too sophisticated to blame servicemen for the war."

A sign used by the Neighbors for Peace and Justice on Friday nights in Studio City, California reads
"War is Terrorism"
ergo, the troops are terrorists.

As for sophistication, it is trumped by Leftist agenda. You stated that you have seen "unethical, emotionally charged and agenda ridden lefties massively lie on Indymedia", but that the right tweaks the facts in their favor. Where and when? The right's agenda is to save this country. The Left's is to destroy it, in order to rebuild it in their image of Utopia.

I'm sure there are abuses of this kind, but I think people have a tendency to exaggerate these things. An employer has every right to ask that bumper stickers not be in his lot. If there are worse abuses than that -- like firing -- publicize it in the community, or have other people do it. There is always a way to fight back. One reason why the left has this country by the ballz is that it NEVER TAKES NO FOR AN ANSWER. With all due respect, I'm in a liberal environment myself, and I'm always outspoken. And with all due respect, it sound to me like you, or certainly many people you know, DO take no for an answer.

Only because the media promotes them! That is a big advantage in their favor! Unfortunately

Yes. Very articulate. I'm sure you've gotten a lot of people to think twice about their liberal views. LOL.

We have to hope that even Senators count calls sometimes.....

And believe me, wasting a long distance call to Senator Levin did. not. feel. good.

I think we haven't yet found the way to effectively counter them.

Or their media friends.........

I think it's gratifying to let the Rats know we won't take their krap lying down. They don't want to hear from us. Therefore, we should call them.

One other point: Not every aide even in liberal senators' offices is necessarily as liberal on every issue as the senator is. Some are basically just innocent kids with Democratic leanings -- the ones who answer the phones, anyway. You never know what impact you might have, especially if many people call.

Why don't you start one in your city? It might seem like a daunting task, but anyone who can drive a thousand miles can do it!

Best wishes! And thanks for your support!

I just copied this from Hugh Hewitt's weblog, goodnight all, and thanks for the info:

First thing in the morning, call, fax, or write Senators McConnell, Lott, Kyl, Ensign, McCain, Warner, and Cornyn --the seven senators at the center of the debate, and Senators Gordon Smith of Oregon and Norm Coleman of Minnesota, who are both standing for-re-election in blue states and getting one-sided noise from the anti-war voters in their states. Urge them to refuse cloture on all resolutions. Urge them as well to enter this week's debate demanding support for the troops and a rejection of the resolution dance that, according to General Petraeus and Secreatry Gates, ecourages the enemy. Senator McConnell: Phone: (202) 224-2541 Fax: (202) 224-2499E-mail here. Senator Lott: Phone: 202-224-6253 Fax: (202)-224-2262 E-mail here. Senator Kyl: Phone: (202) 224-4521 Fax: (202) 224-2207 E-mail here. Senator Ensign: (202)-224-6244 Fax: 202-228-2193. E-mail here. Senator McCain: Phone: (202)-224-2235 Fax (202)-228-2862. E-mail here. Senator Warner: Phone: (202) 224-2023 Fax: (202) 224-6295. E-mail here. Senator Cornyn: Phone:202-224-2934 Fax: 202-228-2856. E-mail here. Senator Smith: Phone: 202-224-3752 Fax: 202-228-3997. E-mail here. Senator Coleman: Phone: 202-224-5641 Fax: 202-224-1152.E-mail here.

Don't tell me....most of their posters were "preprinted" and pretty much all the same.

They were in fact. In fact, I asked one of the marchers how come she didn't have an original thought. Another young lady had no idea what ANSWER was, even though she proudly carried their sign.

Man, this is the first time I've ever wished I lived in washington. Of course, I probably would be in jail now for kicking the ass off of anybody who said that crap to Joshua, so maybe it's better I was here.

Did the weekly support the troops demo, got great response. Had on punk flip me off (I raspberried him in response) and I had one guy honk and then hold up his BDUs. I yelled like I do when the Packers get a touchdown, he grinned and drove on through.

When one Freeper counterprotests the Left, I have seen the media completely change the story they planned to report.

When one Freeper counterprotests the Left, I have seen their carefully laid plans thrown into disarray.

When one Freeper counterprotests the Left, I have seen them become so angry that anyone dare oppose them that they embarass themselves in public and minds are won to our side.

When one Freeper counterprotests the Left, what he does has mattered deeply to soldiersand their families.

When one Freeper counterprotests the Left, and keeps it up week after week, I have seen their numbers dwindle until they are so desperate to stop his simple campaign that they try to have him arrested for exercising his free speech rights.

That's what I've seen. I doubt you've been in the field enough to have seen much, but maybe I'm wrong. Tell me why these guys are wasting their time again?
