Gore Film Sparks Parents' Anger - Showing 'Inconvenient Truth' Would Require Counterpoint

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., Jan. 24 -- Frosty E. Hardiman is neither impressed nor surprised that "An Inconvenient Truth," the global-warming movie narrated by former vice president Al Gore, received an Oscar nomination this week for best documentary.
"Liberal left is all over Hollywood," he grumbled a few hours after the nomination was announced.
Hardiman, a parent of seven here in the southern suburbs of Seattle, has himself roiled the global-warming waters. It happened early this month when he learned that one of his daughters would be watching "An Inconvenient Truth" in her seventh-grade science class.
"No you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation -- the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet -- for global warming," Hardiman wrote in an e-mail to the Federal Way School Board. The 43-year-old computer consultant is an evangelical Christian who says he believes that a warming planet is "one of the signs" of Jesus Christ's imminent return for Judgment Day.
His angry e-mail (along with complaints from a few other parents) stopped the film from being shown to Hardiman's daughter.
The teacher in that science class, Kay Walls, says that after Hardiman's e-mail she was told by her principal that she would receive a disciplinary letter for not following school board rules that require her to seek written permission to present "controversial" materials in class.
The e-mail also pressured the school board to impose a ban on screenings of the film for the district's 22,500 students.

This is the third article I've seen on the subject, and this is the third time the only quote in opposition to the film has been from someone who sounds like a religious nut. The media is doing a fine job of portraying those against the showing of this film as being rubes.

He said that "HE" believed that was one of the signs of the endtimes. He never said that The Bible said it.

Oh boy, I love how controversial is in quotes.
Like its "controversial" because jezuz freaks like this guy won't accept the truth, but in reality smart people know.
Typical from the comPost

His daughter's science teacher, meanwhile, said she is struggling to find authoritative articles to counter the information in the Gore documentary. "The only thing I have found so far is an article in Newsweek called 'The Cooling World,' " Walls saidI guess Ms. Walls hasn't looked very hard. Maybe someone should acquaing her with Al Gore's Internet and show her how to do a little basic research. She IS supposed to be a teacher after all.

Has someone informed that evangelical that the AntiChrist will come to us before Jesus returns?
That's nothing that I want to see in my lifetime.
Maybe Al Gore is the AntiChrist. He's supposed to lead the flock astray and appear as a savior.

So the same agenda driven scientists who were warning us of the impending ice age are now to debate themselves when it comes to global warming?
How about a presentation that there are cycles of tremendous global warming and global cooling that have NOTHING to do with the actions of man, let alone men in industrialized nations.

The Post quotes "Frosty", an evangelical. In this way, the writer smears those who object to Gore's film as religious nuts. Way to go, Washington Post!
Global warming is merely one of hundreds of issues that can NOT be handled in a politically, culturally, or religiously neutral manner by the government schools. No matter what the government bureaucrats decide, the government school will be establishing the political, cultural, and religious worldview of some, and actively trashing and destroying that of others.
Global Warming is a no compromise issue! Not only is global warming a no compromise issue, but hundreds of other issues are as well.
NO school is religiously, culturally, or politically neutral. It is impossible, and that is why government should get out of the K-12 business! As long as government owns and runs k-12 schools, we will have these eternal conflict ragging over curriculum and policies.
Solution: Begin the process of privatizing universal K-12 education. Fund the student, not the school. Vouchers and tax credits can help begin the process, and then gradually move to a completely private system.

she would receive a disciplinary letter for not following school board rules that require her to seek written permission to present "controversial" materials in class. They miss the point. According to the environuts, it is not controversial. It is proven fact. They even want meteorologists who disagree to lose their certification.

Guilt by association. The same way Rev. Fred Phelps is used to slur all people who are culturally on the wrong side of homosexuality. None of those journalists ever mention Mr. Phelps is a politically active Democrat (he's run for office several times) and that his church largely consists of his extended family.

Do you have your papers?

Interesting question; will the new Earth have ice on it? Did the pre-fall Paradise Earth have it? Have felt for some time that the pre-fall Earth up to Noah's time, was covered by dense water vapor to shield man from the harmful effects of the sun.
The Great Flood opened up all manner of things when this "shield" was made part of the deluge and the sun's energy was then unfettered.

Just about any 5th grader can show "Teacher" how to type Google.com, ENTER, then type the question and again ENTER.
Even an educator can learn to do it.
