A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yup, I'm with you in that I much prefer winter weather in the 50s during the day and 30-40 at night!
I'm hoping this cold spell doesn't hurt my daylilies that are peeking out of the ground.
You finished painting yet?

I'll never finish painting. LOL Actually, I have to do some today. I have not painted since last week.
I worry about my plants too. I had bridal wreath blooming. I hope that doesn't ruin our spring blooms.

Now that the power is back on..I am fine inside..I haven't been outside except to retrieve T Rubble, the cat, who slipped out while we checked for a downed line..He did not like the icy brick wall he had hopped on and would not come down at first. Keeping my fingers crossed the power stays on! Brrrrr.

Which Way?
READ:
1 Corinthians 1:18-31The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. 1 Corinthians 1:18
Every night, Howard and Mel frequented the cheap bars in Grand Rapids, Michigan, hoping to drown away another miserable day. Finally, the pain of a wasted life was too much, so Mel hopped a train for Chicago, where he hoped to end it all.
But as he walked barefoot through a Chicago snowstorm in 1897, heading for a self-imposed demise in Lake Michigan, he was stopped by a worker from the Pacific Garden Mission. Mel went inside, heard the gospel, and accepted Christ as his Savior.
Later, Mel went back to Grand Rapids to start a mission. Howard heard that he was saved and sober. But instead of trusting Jesus, Howard just laughed at Old Mel. To him, the message of the cross [was] foolishness (1 Cor. 1:18). Finally, the drinking took its toll on Howard, and he committed suicide.
More than 100 years later, the Mel Trotter Mission still welcomes people who need a place to stay and who need Jesus. And 100 years later, our family is still saddened by Howards demise. He was my wifes grandfather.
Like Mel and Howard, we have a choice. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:36). What do you choose?
Which way will you take? The question is clear
The choice you must make with a heart sincere;
To Jesus the Lord you now are inclined
Today is the day to make up your mind. Hess
To choose Christ now is a choice for eternity.

Good morning, Meg. It's that cold here in North Texas. All schools closed. I won't try to go to work. I'll just stay home to be 'warm and fuzzy'.

No power. I hope it stays on for you too!. It must get cold without it also. I'm glad kitty came in. I let my dog out this morning and she was not to happy with the temps.
