Cops: Child Pornography Found on Mo. Kidnap Suspect's Computer
New York Post via FOX News ^ | January 15, 2007 | Andy Geller

Child pornography was found on the home computer of the hulking loner accused of kidnapping two St. Louis boys, law-enforcement sources said Sunday.

As a result, the feds are considering slapping Michael Devlin, 41, with child-porn charges, the sources said.

Devlin, a 300-pound pizza-parlor manager, was arrested Friday in the kidnapping of Shawn Hornbeck, 15, who was kept for four years, and William Ownby, 13, who was rescued after four days.

Back in jail....Good, he never should have been released the first time.

Just checked and he only served 5 years of a 7 year sentence for the Stayner/White kidnappings, his second kidnapping conviction.

Wonder what effect the kidnapping had on Cary Stayner? Would he have commited his crimes if the kidnapping of his brother had not occured?

I was looking at the sibling sisters of these two boys hoping that lessons were learned from the Staynor family.

There is a movie out that I like (for me to like a drama is amazing in and of itself) called "Deep End of the Ocean." It focuses a lot on the effect of an abduction on the family who lost the child. One of the things they paid attention to is the children left at home and the "neglect" they perceive as their parents frantically search for the missing child.

What's your evidence that Walsh acts like a Hollywood elite? That he hosts a program aimed at finding heinous criminals? I'm interested to know.

I hadn't read that the (first kidnapped) kid had had easy access to a phone.

This is from Steven Stayner and gives good insight:

"You should know that the first thing abductors often do is convince the child that their parents don't want them. My abductor faked phone calls to my parents. He actually told me he went to court to get legal custody. I was seven. I had nowhere else to turn. I eventually accepted the lie as reality.

"The next stage was adapting for survival. This meant doing anything to avoid punishment. I actually helped my abductor keep the secret.

"So don't expect abducted children to come up and ask for help. They're totally dependent on their abductors. And if they're being sexually abused, which is usually the case, the last thing they want is to draw attention to it.

"I trusted no one. My greatest fear was that someone would find out the truth and confront my 'father'. I didn't know what he'd do. As bad as things were, I knew it could get worse.

"To survive, abducted children must learn to lie. When people would ask me about my past, I made it up. I now assume people knew I was lying, but no one ever tried to find out why.

Before I can make judgement about exactly what happened here, I need to have a lot more information? So far I have concluded that Devlin is guilty of 'something' but I am not sure what that 'something' is...

If you really believe this, then you are the most stupid person on the planet. Or, you could be a liberal. Liberals always try to realization the actions of the guilty.

I don't think you understand what I meant...it was obvious from the movie on tv depicting his ordeal that after he was "freed", his mind never really was, and ever after that he engaged in very risky behavior. One of which was that motorcycle of his (risky behaviour for anyone actually) He was messed up inside and never got over what happened to him. What I meant in my post was that he did some very destructive things to himself after his ordeal was over, it was never really "over" for him. Watch the movie, that's what I came away with

I just read the other thread on this topic; more info over there and it appears that the kidnapper did tell the older kidnapped boy that his parents "did not want him." :(

I know these pervs have an MO. It'll all come out. I'm just glad the boys are safe.

If you are saying that his choice to ride a motorcycle was a result of his abduction, I think you are off base, still. A lot of people choose to ride motorcycles that come from perfectly sane and healthy backgrounds.

You've got to be kidding! He is a kidnapper. It doesn't mean jack what the kid's behavior was in the least. He took the kid from his parents, who had legal custody. That is kidnapping. It is a Federal crime!

I blame that man for his loss of any sense of a normal existence, without a doubt. I think he was on his way back to having that, and a tragedy out of anyone's control befell him.

He's gone quiet, I wouldn't bother being outraged anymore at his stupid remark. Wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out about his proclivities. Anyone who makes such a statement makes me suspicious

If there was any evidence that his accident was in any way suicidal, then my bets would be with any decent prosecutor to try him for murder. Obviously there wasn't any. But I still can't help but wonder if there wasn't perhaps some behaviours of his that would have been different had he not gone through the hell that he did. And if you are a motorcycle rider, I'm not calling you insane :)
