Every area in Oklahoma except for the small strip located directly above the Texas panhandle is under an Ice Storm Warning.

In Oklahoma both the Tulsa and OKC airports are being affected resulting in delays and cancellations. We also have power outages throughout the area.

All 77 counties in Oklahoma are operating under a state of emergency. http://www.kswo.com/Global/story.asp?S=5931428

In my area this storm wasn't supposed to hit until later this evening and last through Sunday evening at 6:00PM. However, early this morning it was already drizzling rain and by 10ish we were getting freezing rain and sleet.

Around 1:00PM we lost power for close to 40 minutes and I really thought it was going to be out for the duration. I've washed and dried every pair of sweats, all blankets, robes and blankets we can wrap up in. If, in fact the power does go out I think we're prepared as far as being able to layer clothing. Home health care went to the store and stocked up for me yesterday.

I'm concerned we're going to lose power due to this storm since I've been watching the icicles grow longer and longer (now near 7 inches long) off parts of our Dish satellite. Taking the 3 dogs out I've seen icicles on bushes which aren't normally affected by freezing rain or sleet.

I've got the scanner on listening to local police calls. I live in a small town with a population of 4,500+/- and our police can't keep up with the number of cars which have slid off the road. Lawton has power outages in different parts of town.

I don't have the websites for Tulsa even after doing a brief websearch.

Brrrr! It's cold out there!

Accu Weather's Joe Bastardi said that January 15th to February 15th this year, could be one of the top five coldest periods in the last hundred years.

Yeah, I'll take the snow here in Minnesota every time. I survived several ice storms in Illinois in the late 70's.

No thanks.....

I don't mind deep snow and even ice but man I hate it when the power goes out. My husband loves it. He runs around with Coleman lighters, fills the bathtubs with water, gets out the old smelling sleeping bags, all the time openning and closing the doors and letting in the cold air. I just want my laptop to work.

That's a heat wave in your neck-of-the-woods, isn't it?

Here in Norman we have had sleet not freezing rain even though the roads are still slick, the power lines have no ice nor do the trees.

It really is cold outside right now and dropping.

Will Rogers flights are cancelled for the rest of the day along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert.

Believe me, I'd much rather have snow instead of this accursed ice!

Our central heat is gas but the blower is electric. The only other heat source we have inside is a wall stove in the middle bathroom. Last time it was lit it caused the carbon monoxide detector located close to 20 feet away to sound its alarm.

If we do lose power hopefully we'll be able to make it over to fiance's Moms' house since she has a gas stove as well as gas wall heaters.

We haven't even begun to get the worst of this and we have a car off in a ditch, a car which has hit some signs and a major(?) wreck...all in a town of 4500!

Yes. We are done with that cold air, you can have it now. Who knows, it might yet be worth something.

I was at the store yesterday and shocked at how some of the shelves had little left on them and Albertsons was stocking as I shopped. I have chili on the stove tonight!

I'm watching a snow storm right now.

It's about five miles away and 3000 feet higher.

Where I am it's about 60 degrees and sunny.

I have relatives in Western Kansas and they are hoping that they get a light dusting, they still are recovering from the foot of snow and 5 inches of ice and barely got there power back, they dont need to start all over again.

Well at least your husband is prepared!

Where I live (northern Alabama) we are LONG overdue for an ice storm.

Since I moved into my condo 5+ years ago I've purchased a sleeping bag, camping stove with extra propane cannisters, oil and oil lamps, a couple of book reading lights, and then every year in the early fall I stock up on canned soups, crackers, nuts, and an extra bag each of dog and cat food.

I've mainly been monitoring the weather out of Lawton since that's the 'city' closest to me. How long will your area be under the Ice Storm Warning? Ours is supposed to last until Sunday evening.

I think this caught our local news by surprise since they were forecasting 'possible' icy weather and it wasn't supposed to start until later tonight. Oops! It started accumulating on the tree branches mid-morning and judging from the police reports the roads are extremely slick.

LOL, what a hoot. It would take a second ice age for you to use all that up in Northern Alabama. You must be a guy.

We had a real ice storm just last week that put my power off for 3 days. Fireplaces don't put out much heat, nights by candlelight are really boring, and not being able to flush the toilet really stinks. On the bright side, I'm not one of the people who bought a generator, hooked it up wrong, and ruined a bunch of appliances. My only losses were about $30 worth of frozen dinners.

Channel 4 out of OKC said we are 25% through the storm. The roads are slick but so far no ice on the power lines which is great. Looks like freezing rain right now is south of us which would explain your icing.

Have a fire going in the fireplace and covered up all the wood yesterday just in case.

Right now nothing is happening outside but noticed the street in front of my house is slick. Channel 4 said it will get slicker as temps drop for the evening. Right now it is through sometime Sunday.
