New York won't be happy until they have 100% of the funding available, then they'll whine that there isn't more available.

I wonder if the Feds had audited the NY City to see how they're spending the money they've already been allocated.

Since most of them are dead, I don't think they are laughing. And I don't remember al Zawahri even cracking a smile.

The only time I remember seeing Osama laugh was in the video that we recovered in Afghanistan where he was bragging about how successful the 911 attack was.

I suspect that they're also laughing about the fact that they can live in NY without fear that anyone will ask them about their immigration status.

His Honor is correct in that the targets will not be in small towns. What glory is there in bringing down a one story double wide?

Without being a New York fan, my thought is that if we leave such an attractive target vulnerable we ae fools.

In a sense we are saying,"Strike here, you'll get the biggest bang for your buck."

NYC is a big target, but not the only one.

but there aren't that many targets [outside of New York]

This incredible arrogance is why so many dislike NY and LA. And after 9-11 millions of Americans voluntarily sent billions of dollars to NY. How did they repay us? By being AGAINST the war on terror! Sorry, Mayor, if you're hit again you're on your own as far as I'm concerned.

The Democrats think that Homeland Security money should be dealt out like all other pork.

Bloomberg is proof that NYC produces some of the most idiotic politicians in the nation. Al Queda is laughing at us more because we(as a nation) have become soft and putting the Rats in charge of the Congress is proof of that. They were probably ROTFL the day after the November elections because the American Sheeple bought the Rats and the American media's propaganda.

Laughing out of the other side of their faces, if faces can be found after an AC-130 strike.

Al-qaeda laughed when New Yorker's elected Bloomberg. Since the alternative, the nader-raider moe green, was an even bigger joke, the joke was on them.

IMHO Bloomberg, like most liberals, believe 911 was a bunch of bad guys who ATTACKED NEW YORK's iconic WTC, killing people who worked in NEW YORK.

The concept that the UNITED STATES of AMERICA was attacked that day escapes them!!

It's fair share? From each according to ability, to each according to need?

The 9-11 hijackers had residence in Florida. Dearbornistan seems to be a likely place for at lease SOME radical Isalmic supremacists to be plotting.

Should the funds just go to build up infrastructure around likely targets or should it also go towards monitoring and investigation (of things like trucking and flight schools)?

In other news, I heard an announcement this morning that New York City is projecting a $2 billion budget surplus this year.

So in addition to paying their police recruits more than $25,000 per year (as per the previous thread on this topic), Mike Bloomberg can certainly fund whatever security measures the city needs without going to Washington with his hand held out.

...fair share...

I have developed a reflex to grab my wallet whenever a politician uses the word 'fair'...

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I see a very clear analogous relation ship between domestic WOT funding and WOD funding. Homeland security money is the same as War on Drugs money. Highly addictive and grossly wasted. Every LEA in the US gets WOD money even park rangers. Now they all want WOT money.
I say scrap the WOD and reallocate the money for the WOT. At least it's for a legitimate threat and we seem to be actually doing a few things to thwart terrorism.

Don't forget that Bloomie is a RAT at heart. He needs more money for his anti smoking campaign which makes common criminals out of ordinary citizens.

The NYPD and the NYFD still don't have a common emergency frequency that they can use to talk to one another in crisis situations.
