A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Warm Fuzzy Wednesday Poetry

Eden

A Kitten's Curiosity is always seeking rewards
Wanting to know everything and sometimes easily bored
Moving with a fluid elegance and ease
Trying hard not to disturb the cool and gentle breeze
That swirls around My Pretty One's long and silky hair
I follow within her shadow with quiet cautious care

To try to discover her Special Place's magic powers
That can make her disappear and forget about me for hours
A minor sin, but one that can easily be forgiven
By a Kitten who is sly and intellectually driven
I slink through the long Little House's slowly closing Door
And make tiny paw prints in the cool and fleecy Floor

Wrapped nose to tail in the scents of delicate, luscious flowers
Reaching from clay pots filled with rich soil as tall as towers
With petals open to bask in the glow of warm Sunshine
I decide to make myself comfortable and enjoy my time
Watching My Pretty One as she gently makes Beauty with her hands
I see a smile brighten her face and begin to understand

Those flowers look like Rainbow Bridge! One of my rules is for everybody to stop and smell the flowers.

This humor is more cute than funny, but I think you'll still find it enjoyable. Remember back in the good ol' days when everyone made their own butter with the butter churn? Well...

...one day two mice fell into a deep cream bowl. One was an optimistic soul. But the other took the gloomy view.

"We're going to drown," he lamented without much ado, and with a last despairing cry, he flung up his legs and said "Goodbye."

"I can't get out but I won't give in, I'll just swim around till my strength is spent, then I'll die the more content," Quoted the other mouse with a steadfast grin.

Bravely he swam to work his scheme, and his struggles began to churn the cream. The more he swam, his legs a flutter, the more the cream turned into butter.

On top of the butter at last he stopped, and out of the bowl he gaily hopped.

Are the circumstances surrounding your life drowning you, or are you allowing them to help you develop a better relationship with Jesus?

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -Luke 12:32, II Corinthians 4:17-18

Howdy Ma'am! love the iris. around the ponds/canal & streams at the national park locally they are robust..the blue(purple) and the gold just gorgeous in the spring. This is my first yard that I dont' have Iris in the garden itself. In others they were prolific & almost took over certain areas.

Good thoughts Dubya. We don't seem to truly understand the role of problems in our life, just like drowning in cream.. we get strength & support by doing the RIGHT things & working thru them with God's help & guidance.

Bless you FRiend!

I once (note I said once) had a pair of slippers like that. I felt very glamorous wearing them in evenings with lovely related lingerie..

However, I soon learned that cats REALLY, REALLY like this kind of slipper better than any other shoe wear I had.

Well, as they had these tiny little (sexy?) heels & were unstable for klutzy me anyway, I eventually decided it was okay for them to be used for kitty football & whatever other games they wanted to play with them.

good rules. I miss warm weather for SO many reasons.. and the absence of gorgeous flowers.. in garden & wild in meadows is a big part.

Winter does have its own beauty for sure, and love the long range visibility but DO MISS green & the seasonal unfolding of mother nature's color carpet.
