You'd be surprised at the private messages I got prior to the Nov 2006 elction from so-called republicans in USENET and here at FR (atleast one posting in this thread) openly advocating that a democrat win would be more positive for the economy because it would be easier passage of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform." They figure that if a person speaks spanish they just MUST be on the side of illegals. To me, that's bigotry.

I was surprised to see them try to encourage me to anger those republicans against "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" to the point that they may stay home and not vote. I've also noticed that some of them no longer post here. They must have gotten caught an banned. I see there are still some left.

I am not saying Ms. Barnhart was lying. Government officials have a tendency to look at the most favorable outcome, which usually doesn't happens. Have you ever seen a public highway, stadium, building, etc. that's come in under budget?

Did you read about Arnold wanting to give health insurance to illegals? First he wants to start with the kids of illegals, then the illegals themselves. So in essence, the people of Cali will eventually be paying for health insurance for the entire world (since an illegal can come from any country, not just Mexico). *Sigh*..Remember the good old days when Republicans actually use to act like Republicans? Not in my book -- it is as true today as it was the first time I heard it and we have to let our Reps know that we are vehemently opposed to this deal. Every last Freeper should write and call their Congressman demanding that they take a stand on this. With my two Senators, Inhofe and Coburn, that's a piece of cake.

I am not one to throw in the towel and I know they can be counted on to do the right thing in the Senate -- talk as long as they have to and make sure this doesn't become law.

Read post #91 (Pew Research Center exit poll). A very large number of people considered a vote against the GOP a vote against George Bush - primarily "Reagan Democrats" and independents Bush had alienated.

For going on fifty years, Democrats have had to make the most absurd verbal contortions, and even lie outright, in order to get elected, because their actual agenda is unpopular, and they would not succeed otherwise.

It would appear that a fair number of Republicans, including our president, are now doing the same. No amount of name calling, misdirection or political sleight of hand can get them past the fact that it took two years of wrangling and the Freedom Of Information Act for this to see the light of day.

Secrecy and disdain for the voting public have become hallmarks of both political parties. We're being played for fools, while our country is being taken out from under us, I'm beginning to believe.
