A Finest New Year's Weekend T.G.I.F. at the Finest |
Every Thursday at the Finest |
No kidding, amigo! As to your previous comment, I'm not sure what Old Guard refers to, nor what you mean by "here." Would that mean Washington, D.C.?
'07 here so quick and already old news.
I wish our honorable Mr. Mayor and all our Hostesses and all the Finest the best of everything as the calendar turns.
It will be one to remember ... or, forget as I get older and history begins to blur.
May the Good Lord always bless and favor our beloved United States.
They always carry the colors at events like to
Watch Recon on the Pentagon channel..It tells al about the Old Guard They Guard the Tomb of the Unknown, do the Honors about 4 times a day at Arlington.for Generals and Privates alike, Drill endlessly as good will ambassadors attending different events around the country and are still drilling ..ready to be deployed at any time. It gives the History dating from Revolutionary War in this video..tx said he is the voice right at the beginning.
Okay, thanks dear Meg...:)
I just saw John on the TV? I'm pretty sure it was him... looking good as well as sounding good.
Please remember our nephew in your prayers as well as the children of Iraq and Afghanistan.
BRRRRR..Thank you, MamaBear...God bless your nephew and his big heart. Our military men and women are great compassionate ambassadors.
Thank you,jwfiv..Amen
Yes, they are, and that makes me so very proud of them. Highly trained fighting machines with big compassionate hearts. They see so much that is ugly and painful and their job is a thankless and dangerous one. My nephew could be home, snug and warm with his wife and daughter, but he chose, like all of our volunteer military, to serve his country. I am forever grateful for every one of them.
Thank you for remembering him in your prayers, MEG.
Amen, and Amen!
Happy New Year!
Hi, Mama_Bear. Thanks for your nephew's photos and thanks for his service.
I can't help wondering why the Afghanis cannot provide for their children? Even though we, and others in the world, have sent literally tons and tons of clothing, shoes, toys, etc. for the children. And, I mean this has been done by private citizens. I don't know what governments have done; I'm sure we have provided humanitarian aid as part of OEF, though.... ?
Very much so. SGT HOOK, who has a blog and was stationed in the 'Stan 2 years ago started an effort via his blog to collect shoes for Afghani children then. He received and distributed thousands of pairs.
That's just one such project that I know of.
Afghanistan looks beautiful covered with snow!
Well, I guess "beautiful" is one way to describe it, but it looks just plain COLD to me. It looks like about the most inhospitable place on earth. It's probably blistering hot in the summer too....and not a tree in sight. :-(
I knew I recognized your voice. I didn't get to stay and hear all of it, but you sounded really good! I am glad I tuned in as soon as I did so I could hear you at work. I didn't even get a chance to tell Kathy! :( I hope she heard you, too!
(((hugs)))
The Old Guard is the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard)...Escort to the President and Guard of Honor at the Tomb Of The Unknown SOldier.

Just wanted to brag about my hubby, the nephew being spoken about. He started collecting clothes prior to his departure to Afghanistan, while he was in training in Camp Shelby. He viewed videos about conditions in Afghanistan and was so upset that he felt he had to do something. He decided to start collecting clothes, blankets, etc. and asked all our family and friends to help out. This is something he single-handedly started, not supported by the Army or Navy. Many servicepeople are doing things that the media never hears about. I am extremely proud of him, his bravery and his service to our country, as well as his work to spread the word that the Americans are the good guys!
That's a wonderful thing your husband is doing. I hope he knows how much we all support him and the military in whole - plus their families.
Thanks, Aquamarine! We know who truly is supportive and sincere and greatly appreciate the support given to the military! These troops are underappreciated, underpaid, and in Afghanistan, the mail is sketchy at best! The troops deserve every American's heartfelt gratitude.
OUTSTANDING!!! scubachick. One of many reasons we are so proud and supportive of our Armed Forces. A well-deserved Atta-Boy for him. Atta-Girl to you. :)
