KISMAYO, Somalia Dec 31, 2006 (AP)— Islamic fighters abandoned the last major town they held early Monday and were seen heading south toward the Kenyan border while government forces approached slowly because of land mines, residents and the government spokesman said.
The Islamic forces began to disintegrate after a night of artillery attacks at the front line and following a mutiny within its ranks, witnesses said. Government spokesman Abdirahman Dinari said he had information that Islamic forces were moving south toward the Kenyan border.
A blessed New Year to you bd476.
It sure is encouraging news.
Happy New Year Ernest!
It would be nice to get some warm weather but I thought one weathercaster said there would be light rain in the morning.
Rest asured that 'our boys' are right in the thick of this thing if not leading it. God bless our troops.
Excellent news. Another terrorist regime is crushed and defeated.
Send Eomer and his éored to intercept them. They'll destroy the whole lot of them.
"Consider how easy this was for the Ethopians to accomplish in how many days? How many died while the world stood by for years?"
THis is Somalia, not sudan
ANyone know if that's near Masai country?
The islamonuts will regret fleeting to Kenya if it is, that's for damn certain.
THose dudes hunt lions with spears.
House of Cards.
Hats off to our intel folks. They organized this operation magnificently.
I wouldn't be givign the Ethopians totally bad grades...they have a strong element of corruption...and I wouldn't dare go there to start up a business. But on the positive side...there aren't any Muslim strongholds in the country...and for some historical reasons. My guess is that this Somolia episode is simply part two of a 12-part episode. Stay tuned for more excitment.
"THis is Somalia, not sudan"
Works for Somalia as well. Although I do think that Khartoum's shennanigans in the south and its persecution of the Christians and animists down there should have been stopped, and I'm sad that the SPLA had to settle for the weak sort of peace they were stuck with. If you are referring to the new celebrity fad Darfur, well, I'm honestly not losing too much sleep at night with the muslims whacking each other (although it's certainly bad to have small children dying).
True, to a point. Don't forget there are still a few communist/socialist hell-holes, too. Cuba, Zimbabwe, North Korea, and Myanmar, to name four of them. And Hugo Chavez has a dream to turn Venezuela into another one.
In fact, Ethiopia was one in the late 1970s and 80s, and the last I heard, they were still dirt poor. Who'd have thought we would need Ethiopia's help to win a war?
Hammer and anvil time. Step up to the plate, Kenya.
Kenya? This looks like a job for Super Obama!
they escaped, it seems like Eth. is using the Rumsfeld strategy?
