The Spotswood High School students are researching the Muslim culture and finding out how much no one really knows about this culture that is sometimes is negatively stereotyped by the public.

"What's the first thing that comes to your mind when I say Islam?" said Casey Morris.

"Iraq," a fellow student replied.

That's what Casey Morris hopes to eliminate through his research project, the stereotypes the public has about Muslims. Not only will he learn about the culture by wearing traditional Muslim clothing and praying five times a day, but "Also going without pork for 30 days, that's going to be rough but we'll make do," said Morris.

Morris says he is prepared for the criticism that comes along with it.

"Yeah, we're probably going to get some funny looks as we go down the hallway. I'm expecting comments maybe here and there. You know what, I'll be honest, I'll be disappointed if we don’t get some," said Morris.

Members of the Muslim community here in the Valley say many people don't understand the Muslim culture.

"Any effort that tries to educate people and increases to their information can turn very positive towards wider benefit of our society," said Zulfiqar Ishaq, a member of the Muslim community.

Morris' goal is to get a big dose of multiculturalism.

"Alan and I will obviously come out of the deal with a great understanding of the culture with great respect and appreciation for the Islamic culture and hopefully we'll impart some of that upon other people too," said Morris.

"What's the first thing that comes to your mind when I say Muslim?" asked Morris.

"Umm, prayer books?" replied a student.

Morris says he and his classmate will start the actual project January 2 and go for the whole month. They will capture everything on video and put together a documentary not only showing what they learned, but the local attitudes toward Muslims as well.

So, how often do muslims try and understand Christian culture? Would they go to church and eat pork and not blow up other people for a whole month?

Those of us who have lived in this culture abroad have a greater understanding than these "teachers" will ever have. They mistake "misunderstanding" Islam with "we just don't respect or appreciate it after living with it" and comparing it to Christianity, which is something the Muslims should try.

They won't know any more about what it is like to live as a Muslim from this charade than they would know what it's like to live as a squirrel by eating nuts and climbing trees.

This young man should do it for real- move to a village in Pakistan- and find out what it's really like to be a Muslim.

Obviously the child hasn't done his homework. According to the Koran, there is no 'playing' Muslim. If you act like one, you become one and if you then go back to your original religion (if you had one), you are now in apostasy and you can be exterminated (nice word for massacred) by a practicing Muslim. That is what multiculturalism does for you.

Are there any female students volunteering to wear the niqab, burkha, abaya, and khimar and willing to be treated as worthless?

Whats the first thingg that comes to mind about Islam? They should teach these kids what the word Islam means:

And all who do not submit are infidels.

Submit means to submit to the will of Allah as defined by a social order that disrespects the basic human freedoms of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.That social order is enforced by Sharia, a barbaric theocratic code of punishment.

Those who do not submit are treated with prejudice and defined as being sub human Dhimmis.

This IS the truth. And obviously it is NOT being taught to these school children.

I would have to say that Churchill understood Islam quite well. He understood the consequences of appeasement, too. Maybe the young men would benefit more from reading Churchill than by giving up pork and playacting.
