I hope he recovers - still, while trying not to be ghoulish and tacky, what party is the governor of SD (who would appoint his replacement)?

Prayers for his recovery.

Remember people, lets behave ourselves. He's a fellow human being and a generally unoffensive guy.

How does SD replace Senators who cannot complete their terms? If by Governor's appointment, does SD have a Republican or RAT Governor?

MY prayers go out to Sen Johnson for a full and speedy recovery, and to his family and friends for the strength to help Tim make it through this tough time.

Sen. Johnson is a pretty decent guy for a Dem. He is well-respected in the state. Prayers for his complete recovery.

That said, I've never voted for him.

Wikkipedia already has this updated on his bio.

Prayers for his recovery. He is a decent man who happens to be a democrat.

Wow, Sen. Johnson is only 60, that isn't good.

Anyhow, personally, I wish him a speedy recovery and my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Politically, I can't help but wonder what impact this will have. Unless the stroke is so bad that he is physically unable to do his job, I'm imagining he'll hang on till the end of his term, but it'll make it much more likely that he'll retire in 2008. If that's the case, that might actually be bad for Republicans, because I think Johnson is easier to beat then Herseth would be.

Is it okay if I wish him well, but unable to continue as Senator?
