It is early 1943. The Nazi Study Group has just released its Report on how to get out of the entanglements of WW II in Europe. There was no such study group, I hear you cry. But if there had been, based on the evidence of the Iraq Study Group Report, heres how it would have gone.
The war in Europe is going poorly, and getting worse. The Nazis have beat the snot out of the Allies in Europe (threw us off the continent, in fact). The Nazis are beating the snot out of our Allies in North Africa. Field Marshall Rommel is running rings around General Montgomery.
Its time for the US to look for an exit strategy. This war cannot be won. When the New York Times, the Democrat Party, and a small but mouthy gaggle of retired generals agree that a war cannot be won, well that settles it, doesnt it?
So what should we do? Those English people who are holding out against the Nazis need deadlines. Never mind the bombs falling on London every night. Never mind the ships with food and ammunition going to the bottom every day in the North Atlantic. Those lazy Brits need an ultimatum. Either they shape up or we pull the plug on em. The US should set deadlines on when it is going to withdraw its soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. Deadlines should not depend on what is, or is not, happening at the time in the war against the Nazis.
Furthermore, we need to internationalize this war. The US went into WW II with exactly six allies. Thats it, just six. Any fool, plus John Kerry, Jack Murtha and Nancy Pelosi, knows that you cannot win a war with only six allies.
Other nations need to be drawn into the planning on how to end this war, without American further bloodshed. Other countries like Vichy France and Norway under Quisling should be brought into immediate negotiations. (For the history-challenged, occupied France was governed by the Vichy; occupied Norway by the government including Quisling. Both governments were officially neutral.)
Perhaps with the aid of France and Norway, the US can negotiate an end to the hostilities on a reasonable basis. The Nazis can keep all of Eastern and Western Europe, plus Russia if they want it, so long as they promise to leave England and the US alone. That should cause the Nazis to cease their hatred of the US. While theyre at it, the negotiators should settle the differences between the Nazis and the Jews. That pesky problem has been contributing to the larger problems between the Nazis and the world.
Of course, whether the Nazis would keep their word, or would just build up their forces until England would fall into their hands like a ripe plum as did Czechoslovakia did in 1939 might puzzle some readers of the Report of the Nazi Study Group.
Shortly, of course, the Report of the Tojo Study Group on WW II in the Pacific, will be released. If it follows the same thinking, it should recommend that the US, in consultation with the puppet governments in China, Manchuria and Korea, should end its hostilities against Japan, and retreat to Australia and New Zealand, with a promise that each side will not bother the other any more.
The Japanese can expect to keep their word on such matters. Other than that unfortunate business at Pearl Harbor, their military have always been scrupulous men of their word.
The entire national press failed to provide any sort of historical perspective on the Report of the Iraq Study Group, this week. The final line of the first article on Thursday 7 December, in USA Today. The Nations Newspaper, offered a pathetically accurate commentary on ignorance of military/historical matters. It said: The studys release came on the same day that 10 US soldiers were killed in Iraq....
This implies a high death rate, that the US should run screaming into the night to end such slaughter. The truth is, in most major battles in WW II, WW I, and some in the Civil War, the death rate of Americans was 10 or more soldiers killed every fifteen minutes, not every day. Those who are doing the fighting today understand and accept the risks they are all volunteers, and are coming forward in numbers to fill the ranks.
The only reason for USA Today to refer to the 10 deaths, with absolutely no context, is to prejudice the American public against continuing the war to victory. Similar historical bigotry applies to much of the press. Read your own local newspaper. See if it shows similar bias. Then check the byline for AP, for Associated Press.
We are fortunate that there was no Nazi Study Group, and no press and no ignorant minority party clamoring for it, in WW II. If there had been that, plus a Tojo Study Group, Americans east of the Mississippi would be speaking German, and Japanese west of that River. But thats just the opinion of one guy whos read a history book or two.

Ha!, you call what we have given the world food? The stuff we gave them wasn't even organic, probably had lots of trans fats in it, high cholesterol, and much too sugary. We've only suceeded in signing the world's death warrant because of the unhealthy foods we send them. /saracsm
Somehow the media has gotten us in the position of pissing against the wind and hoping for a new 9-11 in order to incite the sheep to do battle. So they seem to think. They want us and the sheep to think so. (personally, I ain't going there.)
We have become one seriously screwed up country when we cannot see what clearly threatens our entire way of life.
Who's to blame for it all? Citizen Kane?
Media madness is going to take us all down.
I'm just about ready to drop out of any place where I can be impacted by media influence.
The MSM and their home front lib allies. They are the enemies Maginot line. Anyone who can defeat them, either by frontal assault or by successfully bypassing their influence, will have won a huge victory. Reagan proved this was possible. The problem is Bush believes in his "new tone" and won't attack them. He's not going to change and fight them; we need to find someone who will.
Exactly. Same thing with Vietnam.
Either take it to the enemy, or get out.
For that matter, the WWII generation would have gone into Pakistan and got Osama before going into Iraq.
1000000000000000000000% correct!!
However, our astute president will follow along & not necessary implement these suggestions but not bemurch them giving the outward appearance that they are acceptable. Real leaders would tell them to shove it. Little pieces of political correctness, get along, talk to our enemies for no purpose - in others words moderates - become road kill as GW has become.
Great stuff as always Congressman BB.
bttt for later
Remember how liberals hated James "F*ck the Jews" Baker in 2000? Well, it seems he's found a way back in their hearts.
The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle....a Gannet fish wrap.
USA Toady ..................... another Gannet fish wrap
BTW misspelling of today is intentional. USA Toady is a toady of the DNC
Thank you sir.
