Cold set to snap city record ( Inconvenient Truth : No Global Warming here )
CALGARY SUN ^ | 2006-11-28 | TARINA WHITE

Posted on 11/28/2006 10:18:12 PM PST by george76

Environment Canada says such low temperatures unusual for this time of year.

The arctic deep freeze trapping Calgary is on track to break a 110-year-old weather record today, but the bitter cold is expected to ease in the coming days.

With a forecast low of -31C today, Calgary could break the -27C record set on this day in 1896.

But factoring in the wind chill, it will feel even colder to people who have to brave the elements, said Environment Canada meteorologist Ross Macdonald.

It's even been too frosty to ski, with Canada Olympic Park shutting the hill yesterday in the name of safety.

Spokesman Chris Dornan said, to his knowledge, it's the first year the weather has forced a November closure.

"It's normally in January or February,"

can't remember the site link right now but there is a site that has been recording world temperatures for many years now and they have found an average DROP in temperature- NOT an increase- they do point out htough that there ARE hotspots created by urban dwelling patches & such- however- over all, the temp is falling, not rising! http://sacredscoop.com

[I don't necessarily agree with the premise of Global Warming but being sarcastic about unexpected, record cold-snaps only makes you look bad. They're predicted to happen by the "Global Warning Model/Theory".]

Why not? The global warming nutcases have capitalized on a cyclical warming trend to whine about how evil man is and how we're all doomed- Besides- as I stated above, the average global temperature is dropping not rising- this is no unnexpected cooling snap- it's been going on for a while now

I walked into the store "Movie Gallery" the other day for the first time in 5 years. They are a video rental chain and I usually have no need to go in there because I like to purchase my dvd's...not a fan of renting at all.

So I saw this sign off the road... all used dvd's 5.00...5 for 25.00. So I decided to pull in and check it out. It was a dump of a store and they had total crap for those 5.00 movies...I'm talking real swill.

In the midst of my looking around for all of 120 seconds...this douchebag liberal who works there walks up to me and says..."Can I help you find something?" I said.."Just looking at the special offer DVD's...that's all."

This lib had a scruffy beard...a pizza stained shirt...was about 100lbs overweight...and wore some of the most hideous glasses I have ever seen.

He then decides to show me a copy of An Inconvienent Truth that he was holding at his side. He asked "Have you watched this yet?", I said "Umm..no..and I have no plans to"...he said "It is your duty as a human being to do so and it is the single most important film made since Farenheight 911...the world is melting and you need to know why!"

I told him "Look..if you push this liberal crap in my face for another second...someone in this conversation will not have a job for the CHRISTMAS season...and I can assure you it will not be me."

He said "Why are you being ignorant with me? I am trying to educate you and show you a very important film."

I then asked for his corporate office phone number while standing in the store...he refused to give it telling me "I am sure you can call the Republican party and their Gestapo has it on file."

I couldn't believe what was happening so I laughed...promptly called him a meathead and then realized that he saw the Bush sticker on the back of my car along with the support the troops sticker etc...so it all came together...he wanted to pick a fight.

I called Movie Gallery's HQ and reported the entire story and was told that I had a gift certificate coming to me and was apologized to in 5 different phone calls from different company reps saying how sorry they were for the actions of their employee and that it was completely un-acceptable.

I made my wishes clear when they asked what would be the best way to resolve the issue? I said...well your inventory is weak so there isn't much I really wanted anyway that day but in the words of Dabney Coleman in 9 to 5..."FIRE THE BITCH".

I have not checked on the store to see if a certain big mouth liberal hack was out of work.

What this has to do with this article...not much..other than what film he was trying to pimp on me. But I have wanted to share it on FR since it happened in some thread.

Thanks for sharing.

These losers try to blame everything on to us.

We had the cold for a couple weeks or a month. Somebody else is welcome to it for a while. It's only -3 today. Heat wave!

I live in the desert for a reason.

So do I live in the desert, Interior Alaska. It's a cold desert, and there is no reason to live here.

In any given time period, 1/3 of the world is above average. 1/3 is below average. 1/3 is average.

Temperatures were consistently above average and climbing NEAR WESTERN EUROPEAN AIRPORTS for a decade. That anecdote is the basis for the global warming mantra.

Pick your anecdotal spot in the Arctic or Antartic circle and you can "prove" just about anything you want.

Guess you don't get the "warming" effect of the water being three miles away!

We're completely overcast at 78.

I suggest that you get some sleep, and then your rage may abate enough to cut off the ALL-CAPS liberal hysteria.

What?

Grow up.

Rememeber, all types of weather are forcast for the Global Warming Model. That way, no matter if it is hot or cold, the theory is covered.

Humboldt?  I grew up over the covered bridge in Jacoby Creek.   My mother lived on Paradise Lane for years, in Fortuna.  You must be not too far from College of the Redwoods?

Are you near the heat island that is detroit?

In southern Wisconsin, we've had a streak of 10 days of temps in the mid-50's to the 60's! Unheard of for late November up here.

However, we had temps in October that were well below normal; my garden froze in early October; the earliest for us in the past 11 years. Usually, I have greens until now, but even the kale bit the dust early.

Right now, the temp is dropping. We'll go from 55 degrees today down to 22 degrees tonight with freezing rain and maybe some snow.

And that's where the temps will stay until...May, LOL!

"and there is no reason to live here."

Is there a reason to die there? or do you plan to relocate?

No, it really isn't getting warmer. the record use of heating fuels over tha last 15 years alone points that out nicely.

Then why is there open water at the North Pole - when there wasn't 30 years ago and why is my lawn bright green at the first of December? Why do the meteorological records show the warmest summers and winters ever have all happened in the past few years?

The big reason for the increase in heating fuel is the increase in population. 300 million burn more fuel than 225 million did.

When you disagree with the AlGore crowd about WHY it is happening - don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
