As long as they don't ban "@sshole" we'll still be able to adequately describe Jesse.

Two things you can count on when the dems get in power--higher taxes and Jesse Jackass running his mouth.

There is no constitutional protection from being "offended". Hate speech laws are unconstitutional because they presuppose an action from a thought. They are the ultimate end state to political correctness. Those who should be condemning such laws, the liberals in law and academia, instead sell out to what is tantamount to a popular fad. Offensive speech is not yelling fire in a crowded theater. It can be an incitement to riot under certain circumstances but an offended person who resorts to violence is still committing battery and subject to appropriate laws.

Sure, as long as the ban applies equally to all persons, regardless of "race".
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Why not ban thinking about the word too? Just thinking about naughty words should be a crime. Jesse is a poopy pants! Uh Oh! Sorry.

So now, with everything else going on in the world, we're going to waste effort trying to legislate a WORD out of existence?
Besides, as I understand it (and I'm no expert in ebonics, believe me), the word "black comedians" as well as every other black "entertainer" uses is not "the n-word" itself, but "niggah." I'm told there's a difference.

What a damn idiot.
If Jackson, Sharpton et al declared that it is now okay for us crackers to use the n word--and encouraged us to do so--it would only be a matter of time before nobody used the word. JM2C
Listening to Jackson, one would get the impression that there are no larger challenges facing the black community...stupid, stupid idiot he is.

That is good news. That has been an ugly, hateful word ever since its inception. However, I'd agree with the article's author that Jackson should first try and work to discourage the use of that word within the black community itself, since they use that word more often, and more casually, than whites do.

Jackson floated his proposal in these terms:
"I might add that we're really going to begin to fight to prohibit that word in public usage as hate language."
-------------------------
In Jesse Jackson's case it's always a case of "Follow the money."
Watch him push for a fine to be leveled on anyone judged to have used the N-word in a "racist and/or hate-filled" manner.* The money to be used to fund programs to raise awareness, sensitivity training, and blah, blah, blah With the Jackson's group(s) at the forefront of these government sponsored (IOW $$$$) re-education classes.
*Which automatically gets a large group of people off the hook from the get go.

That idiocy would open up all kinds of lawsuits.
Others would have their own word list that they would want banned.
PC keeps trying to move society toward the 'you have a right to not be offended' as public policy. The problem with that is that anyone who looks hard enough can find something to be offended at or by.

It will only qualify as "hate language" if a white person uses the word.

Since black people use the N word all the time, does this mean they will also have to live under the new law if it is passed?

Does this also mean we will not have to hear our President called a "drunk" anymore? I find that to be highly insensitive to all brave alcoholics who are recovering and I mean that.

I agree with Jackson. Let's substitute the word 'boy' for the N-word, and start with Jesse, every time somebody sees him, 'Hey BOY? How ya doin' wid dat N-word ban? Get it banned yet boy? Good luck now, tell the family I said hello, ya got that boy? Bye now!'

Well, if they ban the n-word, let's also ban "cracker," "honkey" (also spelled "honkie"), and all the ugly words black "comedians" use to describe whites. No, I'm not asking for a race war here, just fairness.
