I just want to have a thread to discuss House Rep. Duncan Hunter who is going to be one of our GOP nominees. Seems as if a lot of people on FR are complaining about our choices for 2008 when this great man is going to be in the race as well. I just think he needs to get some coverage and wanted to start this thread.
He is the man conservatives should get behind and I think he deserves his own thread to remind us that we do have a great candidate this time if we'd only realize it.

It's down to Rudy, McLame, and Romney.
Yieks! I know the pendilum swings back and forth, but I thought we had another President for at least four years before we lost again. I am DEFINITELY a realist with regards to Presidents. I never say that democrats will never have a President again. There are many here that for whatever reason truly believe democrats would win the President again. They also never thought we would lose the House or Senate again either. I like that thought, but it is not even realistic at all.
I'm not sure I have preconceived notions. I always thought the main reason sitting members of congress make such unlikely candidates is because they have records of compromise votes that can be used effectively against them.
I would like to hear this guy talk in the near future. These days we need a guy that has the credentials and is also pleasing to the ear. The fact that Bush was elected was an anomaly. It helped that besides sounding like a moron, Gore also sounded condescending. It helped that Kerry had the personal baggage he had. When Bush leaves office, if I never have to hear him explain something again, it will be too soon...and I thought, on average, he was worthy of my support.
I'm not picking at you, Alice, this is the 2nd or 3rd comment like this on this thread. How does anyone have knowledge of current politics, goverment and NOT know the name Duncan Hunter. He's on the TV all the time! This is the man we should be working for. Consistent, military background, son served in Iraq and he CARES about this country.
We've been discussing his for a couple weeks here.

We could do worse than Newt, but Newt is not consistent. A couple years ago he liked Bush's amnesty plan. He's tied up with Grover Norquist. Hunter has been working to stop the flow for decades.
Sounds like a GREAT President too. And he's no-nonsense who I could see putting his words to action. That's what we need. A lot of people on this thread think we just need a good name, whom the media wants to tell us has a chance!
I would vote for Newt in a heart beat if I thought he was electable - he has to know he's not. Now a cabinet position - ok.
I agree with the consensus here a Representative from the House doesn't have the name recognition, etc. for president.
I'm kinda glad Allen faded early although I'm not happy he lost his Senate seat. He doesn't even have half the substance of his Dad - who was a great man (IMhO).
Of the kinda announced candidates Romney is my guy.
Haley Barbor is someone I would like to see run - JC Watts, I really like, especially for VP, but when you consider the alternatives - I really have to say, honestly, I will hold my nose and vote for any (R) for President right now.
Pride, opinions and preferences aside - this is a battle we must win - and third party candidates or the Vast Right Wing sitting on their votes - will not bode well for the USA - too much can go wrong too fast to give the RATs another chance leading this country from the White House.
now I'll go back to getting ready to watch the Friday afternoon football games and stop thinking about this mess we're in.
When Bush leaves office, if I never have to hear him explain something again, it will be too soon
Sorry, you feel that way. I happen to enjoy the President and his speaking style very much.
Yeah, nothing like destroying the guy before he's given a chance. Hunter is the BEST choice we have and people here on FR who say they've never heard of him know NOTHING of politics or they're lying. Either way, it's a shame they vote.
You got it right in your amazement in your one post that how can these people on here post they don't know who he is when he's been all over the media these past few yrs. and didn't we love his response to Wolf Blitzer on the sniper video propaganda for terrorists? Yet the posters on here are supposedly up-to-date on politics? It's depressing.
How does anyone have knowledge of current politics, goverment and NOT know the name Duncan Hunter.
Amen! AMEN!!!
I believe the "naysayers" regarding Hunter on FR are those that love gloablism. Hunter was the person who brought to our attention the debacle of the Dubai ports dea. I believe THAT is why they don't like him. And that may be a good thing.
Thanks for the thread. Hunter is my guy unless something catastrophic happens to his candidacy or somebody I deem even better decides to run (not any of the currect mentions).
That's what I said when I first heard the name BILL CLINTON.
Hunter is currently at the top of my list.
Is it possible that he could carry his home state?
He's my first choice, then Rice or Gingrich.
Most of the others can go pound salt, including the leftist media's "front-runners" RUDEY, McPain and Romney II.
If the pubbies nominate a gun grabber vs Clinton, who is also a gun grabber, there are lots of people who care about such things who will stay home.
We need to watch for his official campaign site to come up and donate big. I'm not rich but he's going to get a good amount of money from me because I think it's important he be the candidate.
Why? Is Hunter a disgraced former Congressman with a hypocritical, big mouth, and a record featuring unrepented serial unfaithfulness?
Oh no, wait. That's... um, wait, it's coming to me... his name was... was....
Liberals trash all conservatives on wikipedia. You should have seen george allen's wikipedia page, trolls descended on that page like a fly to shit.
