In this day and age the only obstacle that may be insurmountable is our preconceived notions and our refusal to abandon them.

I'm not sure I have preconceived notions. I always thought the main reason sitting members of congress make such unlikely candidates is because they have records of compromise votes that can be used effectively against them.

I would like to hear this guy talk in the near future. These days we need a guy that has the credentials and is also pleasing to the ear. The fact that Bush was elected was an anomaly. It helped that besides sounding like a moron, Gore also sounded condescending. It helped that Kerry had the personal baggage he had. When Bush leaves office, if I never have to hear him explain something again, it will be too soon...and I thought, on average, he was worthy of my support.

I didn't say you, I said us... On some of the earlier threads regarding Duncan Hunter, there were FReepers who have systematically written him just because he's from the House. That's ridiculous. Let's give him a chance to present his case. That's all I'm saying.

Sorry, you feel that way. I happen to enjoy the President and his speaking style very much.
