~ FReeper Canteen ~
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Troops, Veterans, Allies, and to your family members. Thank you for allowing us all to celebrate a day to give Thanks!

Welcome to the Canteen!

We're going to revisit an old question, but give it a more holiday twist.

Since most of you will have Thanksgiving off and perhaps even Friday as well, here's our question:

What are the best movies for the holiday?

The best family movie that can be enjoyed by everyone?

The best thriller for those who need suspense?

The best comedy movie for those who need a laugh?

The best movie based on a real life person or event?

Once again, from all of us at the Canteen:

We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving week!

FRUITCAKE RECIPE

1 cup water,
1 cup sugar,
4 large eggs
2 cups dried fruit,
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
lemon juice
nuts
1 gallon whiskey

Sample the whiskey to check for quality.
Take a large bowl.
Check the whiskey again to be sure that it is of the highest quality.
Pour 1 level cup and drink. Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat 1 cup butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 tsp. sugar and beat again.
Turn off the mixer.
Break two eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Mix on the turner.
If the dried fruit gets stuck on the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the whiskey to check for consisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of salt.
Or something. Who cares.
Check the whiskey.
Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one spable. Toon. Of sugar or something.
Whatever you can find.
Grease the oven.
Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Throw the bowl out the window.

Check the whiskey again.

Go to bed.

Who likes fruitcake anyway?

hic

This is the dessert I'm making for tomorrow:

Flan

1/3 cup sugar
5 eggs
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
2 tablespoons Kahula (optional)

Place sugar in aluminum loaf pan. Hold loaf pan over low heat, moving pan from side to side until sugar is completely melted and golden brown. Swirl to coat sides and bottom evenly with the sugar. Set aside.

Beat eggs and cream cheese well. Add sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk and beat until blended. Beat in vanilla. Add optional Kahlua if desired. Pour mixture into aluminum loaf pan and place in a larger pan containing 1" hot water. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool; then turn over on a serving plate.

LOVE YA, TROOPS ~~ WE'RE SO THANKFUL FOR YOU!

Saving Private Ryan. Everyone should see at least the 1st 10 mins or so to get idea of what it cost to cross Ohmaha Beach, Normady France at 6:30am June 6th, 1944. Cut out the bit and pieces of Holliweird drama nonsense and over all it is very good movie.

Hi, MoJo!

Got to have "A Christmas Story"!

Also:

"A Midnight Clear": Gary Sinise leads a group of young replacements through the Ardennes during The Battle Of The Bulge. An excellent, middle-budgeted, overlooked gem.

Jack.
