The most important thing that Republicans should learn from tonight is that America is a representative democracy.
This does NOT mean that your congress critter shares ALL your beliefs, or that he is a perfect human being, but rather that, in general, he votes the way you want him to.
It's like hiring a lawyer. You may despise his personal life and his principles, but what is important is that he WINS YOUR CASE.
Democraps could care less about the morals of their elected officials as long as they win.
Republicans could learn a lesson here...
OK, just wrap your lips around the phrase "Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi..."
Defeated?
I learned that the terrorist will follow us home, and we will have two years of investigations to prove the terrorist mean us no harm, just Bush.
Republicans should learn that if you act like big spending liberals then the people will simply decide to elect the real thing instead of maintaining the phonies. The pubbies simply became as corrupt and entrenched and addicted to pork as the libs were in 94 and have largely become indistinguishable from liberals to the majority of people.
Republicans are getting spanked because of Bush. He is wishy washy, spends like a liberal, acts like Clinton is his half brother, supports affirmative action, tried to put a liberal on SCOTUS, supports law breaking illegals, and is not serious about the war on terror.
Bush and Rove better wake up and start to figure out if they are conservatives or just wannabes otherwise 2008 is going to be even worse.
So you're saying that the Constitution is no longer valid - we are no longer a representative republic and tonight changed us into a "representative democracy?"
Tip: Keep your day job...
Voted out because some conservatives decided to teach the Republicans a lesson.
Well, welcome to the lesson...
Man, that's, like, deep, like, you know what I mean?
Oh, you reminded me of this:
Le ZOTTE: My very IMPORTANT opinion on tonight's debate. VERY IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS VANITY! MAYO

NO ONE ELSE THOUGHT OF THIS SO IT DESERVES A THREAD OF ITS OWN!
I think each and every poster on FR should post a new thread stating his opinion on the debate. This way, instead of having only a few threads with hundreds of posts each (ie, discussion threads), we will have hundreds of threads, each with two comments. One the important opinion, and two, the complaint about vanity posts.

Ken Mehlman is not the problem. GOP losses tonight have nothing to do with a faulty organizational scheme or tunrout (Mehlman's job.) They have to do with a lack of ideological vision and backbone on the part of the GOP and the President, a love of power, a hard war in Iraq, and personal ethical failings on the part of members of Congress.
That's about the size of it.
It's time to clean house. I want a new House and Senate leaders. And I want a renewal of the Contract with America.
And I want Republicans that fight for conservatism, not getting themselves the 2008 nomination.
Speaking of ditzy broads, I understand the fat Ditzy Chick is really celebrating tonight.
Maybe they decided spending like slobbering hogs would garner them the most votes? Who knows what goes on behind closed doors? Although I voted straight ticket Repub, the Socialist Pig spending bothered me the most.
Correction. The US is a representative republic (increasingly being relegated to history), which is also a limited republic by virtue of its Constitution.
Republicans should learn (or any politician for that matter), that those empowered to govern only do so by consent of the governed. Republicans have lost touch with that in the years between 2006 and 1994. Typical. Dems had it happen as well.
Blah, blah, blah...
That's all I hear you saying.
Republicans don't seem to be as nasty in general as the Dems.
My guess is that they were thinking about winning when
the WOT started...I think this was the DEMS strategy...
Start as being for the war. When things get tough(as they are known
to do in war) criticize vehemently the elected leader.
Present yourself as more thoughtful, and voila, you get
the weak-kneed, and the fearful to go your way, and you win.
It's really a matter of accenting what is bad about the
opponent, and presenting yourself as better. The only good
thing about the system, is that most "leaders" can't hang
around forever.
I'm sure the next cycle will circle around WOT, immigration,
and socialist quality taxes, scandals, age, and gender.
The Democrats are winning because they ran as conservatives. The republicans are losing because they governed as liberals.
That is a good lesson.
Congrats on the first Faith Hill "WHAT?" reference I've seen on FR! LOL!
