I can't believe so many people are so surprised we lost the House. It was pretty much predicted months ago. The Senate was the only mystery. We've had so many Republican congressmen retire or get into scandals, it should have been a bad sign.

"How could Rove/Mehlman have been so wrong on this outcome?"

I know I will get flamed but...
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe this is exactly what Bush and Rove want?

Considering the circles that Bush famly runs around with (Clinton and friends)it wouldn't surprise me.

The religious republicans lost it, the fiscal ones won.

Some counterexamples:

Tell that to Chaffee and Foley.

Then talk to Kyl and Talent.

Ergo, it was an anti-Republican mood for two reasons:

1) Rahm Emmanuel ran a bunch of *conservative* democrats, including that evangelical Christian pro-life guy in NC.

2) The Dems nationalized the election into a referendum upon the war in Iraq.

Truth is, Bush 43 followed in his father's footsteps and failed to campaign or to support his party in any meaningful way.

He believed his own echo chamber and Rove, who relied on robo-phoning instead of grass roots.

GWB is a man of character who did what he thought was right and did not flinch, even though it has cost his party control of Congress. Not to mention his own popularity. That is the mark of a true leader, I think. Perhaps his standing will increase when he goes up against Pelosi and her lefty colleagues.

That's NOT why we lost the House! Get a damned grip, instead of emotionally rdelying on your own bias and emotions.

And whilst a defeat, it is hardly a "bloodbath".

Start telling them about healthcare costs, etc. and they'll start to care.

I doubt it. They won't care until it actually DOES effect them personally. Just wait...now that the rats have some power, the borders will be wide open for the terrorists and illegals to flood in. Then they'll care.

Most people do not realize how a socialized medical program would drastically bring down the level of health care in this country. So many people think socialized health care would be a "great thing", but they are completely uninformed (the theme for the evening...uninformed, sheeple voters) about the real consequences of such a program. It would do our country good if those people would get up off their couches and get informed, but they prefer to stare at the tube and absorb...

It's one thing to get in the mud, yet another to grow a spine... Hastert and Frist have both been spineless.

Fox just quoted Snow as saying the congress can now enact "meaningful immigration reform."

The saddest thing all night. That means that here in SoCal, all these people ruining our chance of survival as a middle class family are here to stay and they are bringing their cousins.

Tonight should put an end to the "If the GOP would just run a real conservative, we'd win every time" rant, shouldn't it?

Not from the looks of some of the posts on here.

Like here's one from terriergal:

So you might as well 'throw your vote away' on an actual conservative, or a Constitution Party candidate.

This is the wartime hero who jumps up and runs screaming into no mans land and gets killed for no gain at all.

I've felt that way since 9-11. We are in a life and death struggle. Liberal "friends" who are not with us are against us.

BINGO!!!

If the RINOs take over, that forces the Democrats leftward...that is where the country collapses.
