'Known Al Qaeda Terrorist' Nabbed in Khost(Nah can't be.... or could it?)

US Forces captured a 'known Al Qaeda terrorist' along with five other men, including Saudi and Pakistani nationals, according to a statement released by the Coalition today. The identities of those seized in the Khost City raid have been withheld pending the sensitive nature of the operation

The raid took place at a compound in Khost City. The statement indicated no shots were fired and no one was injured during the operation. Several women and children were present in the compound and a cache of military supplies was uncovered.

The stash included armor piercing ammunition, grenades, AK-47 assault rifles and camera equipment that contained surveillance footage of nearby military installations.

Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters are known to operate and live throughout Khost province which borders Pakistan. Fighters from neighboring Pakistan are also known to easily pass through the border area into Afghanistan on a daily basis due to the rugged terrain and well established smuggling routes.

Counter-terrorism operations launched by US forces targeting al Qaeda compounds in Nangahar and Khost provinces has been stepped up since August, netting and killing dozens of suspected al Qaeda militants.

I could tell because you're using the same screen-name here as you are over there. Kind of DUmb if you ask me. ;)

Nope. It prevents someone from hijacking your good name and posting whizDUmb under it. I'm there too.

OTOH, the Dems would scream that this was all a set-up to secure a GOP majority in Congress.

So? They're the ones making a big deal out of not getting Bin Laden. We could just hand him over as an election gift and put smiles on their faces for election day.

I say we all leak that it's OBL anyway and let everyone deny it for the next 24 hours. Speculation can be as good as the truth in this case.

A simple prime-time presidential address: "We cannot confirm Osama's capture. Right now these stories are simply speculation".

That would do it.

I'm not sure I understand, null and void. Oh wait, do you mean someone would try to hijack a FReepname and use it at DU?

I saw a trailer for that movie back in 1981 or 82...to this day, the mere image of that guy's melon blowing like that unsettles me.

I had exactly the same experience!

If it was Abu Nasser al-Qahtani, he was most likely given up by his own people.

If they tracked down the others because he called them - then they had all those calls leading directly back to him - so he 'caught' himself - if it's him

Why would we want to stop that? All those Damocrats would be useful in creating the new Grand Canyon Lakes Resort.

"That would be beyond belief it they actually captured OBL.

OTOH, the Dems would scream that this was all a set-up to secure a GOP majority in Congress.

It would be just like Bush to hold off the announcement until the polls close. Not that the Dems would give him credit, the Delusional Party would still be shreiking "what took so long?" and "Bush delayed the announcement so he would look magnanimous!"

That's what can happen when you capture a group's leader.
