C'mon!
I do believe that she has pegged the culture of at least a large segment, if not overwhelming majority, of the lesbian culture of American universities.
So she is saying that any girl who fits the above description cant get a guy, and therefor becomes a lesbian. Sorry, lost all credibility right there.
I feel sorry for anyone being "counselled" by this basket case.
recruiting in action.
What causes homophobia? What is it that makes a heterosexual man worry? I think it's because men know that deep down we have weak sales resistance. We're constantly buying shoes that hurt us, pants that don't fit right. Men think, "Obviously I can be talked into anything. What if I accidentally wander into some sort of homosexual store, thinking it's a shoe store, and the salesman goes, 'Just hold this guy's hand, walk around the store a little bit, see how you feel. No obligation, no pressure, just try it. Would you like to see him in a sandal?'"
Seinfeld, "The Note"
The entire foundation of all of this is a lack of values. People do not read the Bible any more, do not take their children to church, and do not focus their recreation, etc. time on wholesome activities. Movies watched are full of this homosexual agenda. Well, duh...
I don't know if I'd characterize it that way either. Certainly there is a much more accepting if not downright encouraging attitude of the culture in general about homosexuality. That said, there have always been homosexuals, among them some of the world's most talented and celebrated writers, painters, dancers, and no doubt also doctors, lawyers, etc. Why is that? Darned if I know.
But in my lifetime it has become more mainstream, or at least there is a movement to mainstream it that is something new, and from my point of view it's rather shocking. Then again, I'm a New England Puritan at heart. Back when I was growing up, that region of the country was very conservative, and I think I absorbed that. But I've known gays my whole life. You can't be involved in the arts not know gay folk. How we deal with it as a culture is something else, and again, I don't have the answers, as homosexuality seems to have always been practiced, whether openly or not.
Her relentlessness was something to behold.
As stated in a mandatory assembly in my daughter's Jr Hi,
If you feel uncomfortable or nervous around people of the opposite sex, you are probably gay. What you should do is have a couple gay experiences and a couple straight experiences and then see which fits you better. If you don't know anyone to do it with, I'll be happy to do it with you.
I went through much of the same things as this woman, loneliness, no dates, being ostrasized by my peers, but it wasn't homosexuality to which I turned, it was drugs, specifically marijuana.
My "friends" in high school said that I would be more accepted if I smoked. So I did. I don't know if I was more accepted, but when stoned, I just didn't care. Oh, I got more friends, at least when I had pot to share. But I didn't get dates, and life just got worse.
Things didn't get better until I stopped using pot to escape, a move that was spurred by getting caught while in the Navy. Counseling and support from the command, and a fear of losing everything (they did give you one chance back then) got me clean. Then I found my was back to God.
I now have a lovely wife and a beautiful daughter. However, I do think about the years I wasted (I was 31 when I married) lost in the fog of pot smoke.
Heather has Two Mommies, The Two Kings, etc....now there's an agenda and cult.
Their life is self defined by their sexual actions. All the homosexuals, bis and lesbians I have been around were nothing but sexually aggressive.
damn, I almost went blind reading the first part of this article...
I dated a girl from Mt. Holyoke, and there's no doubt in my mind that this happens ALL the time in girls' schools.
This author's "friend" was a sexual predator...pure and simple.
Not a great article to read on your first cup of coffee. Yuk. But, it does have a good ending.
