Expect some Foley "leak" tomorrow.

Let 'em try. Having dirt on Mark Foley at this point is like having dirt on Benjamin Harrison.

You're right, that will happen. I know this is a big thing for conservatives, but most democrats probably won't even know what happened or what the big deal is. All they'll know is that they had tickets to a campaign rally with a former Democratic presidential nominee and current Senator, and suddenly, he's not coming. Now, they might think that Kerry's comments were a little bizarre and off-color, but would probably dismiss it relatively quickly. A good number of them probably would have laughed at the joke, no matter if it was directed at the troops or the president.

The thing that they will care about though, is that the main event of the rally didn't show up and it's the fault of the candidate they've been supporting that he isn't there! I know that if Bob Dole was coming to a campaign rally that I had been waiting for, I'd be pretty pissed if they ended up canceling his appearance at the last minute because of some stupid controversy the Democrats were pushing about a screwed-up joke about Bill Clinton.

In fact, I don't think I'd just be mad, I'd be furious! Who cares what the Democrats are saying! Who cares what bizarre joke Bob Dole screwed up about Clinton! When I'm promised an appearance by Bob Dole I damn well better see either Bob Dole when I get there or a note from the coronor! What!?! No Bob Dole! Yearrgggghhhh!!! Well, you know what, screw you! I'm not voting this year.

The thing that people will remember is that the candidate they supported took away their chance to see and hear from a major political figure firsthand. And as it is quite likely that a good number of the democrats at the rally would probably agree with the joke/comments Kerry made about the military, they might decide that maybe this candidate wasn't somebody who truly shared their beliefs and was nothing more than another empty suit. So, no matter which way it goes, the Democrats lose!

Chrissy suddenly claimed the Plame affair was too puzzling to discuss anymore.

You're very welcome. You have written excellent stuff and some very eye-opening posts about certain Democrat politicians.

Yeah but if people were watching Chrissy Matthews tell them that Kerry was being mistreated on CNN, then they more likely believed it to be true.

Did the boys in the white jackets whisk him away or did he "fall" into a vat of Chocolate Ketchup?

I am actually a little surprised that mccain didn't issue a statement that would have provided kerry with political cover.

"I remember when I was back home from Vietnam and veterans were speaking out against the Vietnam war policy, someone yelled at the vets: "You should support the troops." One of those veterans said simply: "Lady, we are the troops."
      John Kerry Responds

I searched Google for the phrase "Lady, we are the troops" and found the following two paragraphs:

When an audience member asked if they should feel ill will toward the soldiers currently in Iraq, Barry responded, "The people in the military are not your enemies. Some of them are. They tend to wear four stars. They tend to work in the Pentagon and send poor kids to war who only dreamed of buying a home for their parents."
Ward Churchill added, "VVAW did these silent marches. All you could hear were boots hitting the street. Once a Republican woman came up to us and said, 'What are you doing to the morale of the troops?' And VVAW would say, 'Lady, we are the troops."
From Vietnam Veterans Against the War (Spring 2006)

So Kerry is quoting that statement? Of course he would not mention where he got it from.

Pelosi, Reid, and now Kerry are in hiding. We need a Kennedy hit. Please. Just one more liberal. (Hillary canned herself with homo "marriage", so she's done herself in.)

I thought the same thing, that McCain would give Kerry cover. This is exactly why I'm so pleasantly startled that he went after his throat, and now, pit-bull-like, is not letting go. McCain has dug in, and Kerry and the Dems will now suffer. But it is long past due for Rove to start running the Dingy clip on killing the patriot act, and the Durbin clip on our troops.

the fact that McCain brought up Kerry's troop-trashing Vietnam comments was like a sharp knife in Kerry's back...that'll leave a mark!

Unfortunately for him, it is not only hurting his party but his prospects

I think the DNC will put him out of business for '08. He may try but he won't last long enough to matter.

CNN is beyond beyond. I had to watch CNN as my only news fix for 10 whole days...I was depressed, irritable, angry...and that's just after seeing their commercials.

Really thought, the morning show called, "American Morning" should be renamed, "American Mourning". I didn't know news "had" to be depressing until I saw that show.
