The MSM troops have begun to rally around their man.
Interviewing Ted Kennedy on MSNBC, Chris Matthews referred to the controversy over Kerry's comments as a 'brouhaha' and a 'rhubarb. Kennedy was of course only too happy to agree, calling the controversy a "diversion" and even casting Kerry as the victim, claiming he is the "target of Republicans" reacting to his criticism of the war.
A bit later in the hour, Matthews flatly claimed that Kerry only meant to say that Bush hadn't studied enough before he became president and thus got us into a mess in Iraq, and later still:
"I think he meant to go after the President."
To quote that great student of human behavior, John McEnroe: "you cannot be serious!"
I think Kerry misspoke. I think Kerry intended to say that if aren't educated you could get the country into Iraq (or something to that effect). It was suppose to be a slam on Bush. But he misspoke and it went downhill from there. I think for Kerry it was easy for him to make the error, because I think in his heart of hearts he really believes that those in the military are dumb, but I don't think he intended to say it.
GAWD! Can even Chrissy be that stupid? I guess he can, 'cause I actually believe he's generally sincere. It's just staggering though that anyone, even a simpering sycophant like Chrissy, can talk themselves into ignoring something so obvious. KERRY WAS REFERRING TO THE TROOPS.
I also saw Matthews use the AP misaccount and LIED saying that his jokes about Bush led right into his smear against the military, dismissing the comment Kerry made in prefacing his smear by specifically indicating he was talking about education (not Bush)
George W. Bush went to Yale and is not serving in Iraq, so I don't see how the comments were meant to attack Bush. Any honest person would realize that Kerry's comments implied that our troops are stupid.
I think that Kerry was attempting to make a joke about Dubya. It would go like this:
(1)Accept the Democrat lie the Dubya didn't do well in college.
(2) Accept the lie that we're stuck in Iraq
(3) Accept the lie that #2 above is based on Dubya's condut of the war.
(4)Then, ho ho ho, isn't it just a real knee slapper to suggest that if you don't do well in college you will be elected president and then get stuck in Iraq.
I have two comments: Even if I'm correct in so constructing this pathetic attempt at a joke, Kerry still has to apologizr for the other stuff he's said to denigrate our heroes in the CZ; AND, the guy is a social klutz of the first order. If he thinks that's a joke he really has no temperance, no sense of balance. GAWD I'm glad he's not prexydent. We'd probably be at war with The Andorra-Monaco alliance ... and losing.
uhh no. Kerry intended to say what he said and said what he intended. He and other DemoncRATs have said the same & - actually - much worse before.
That made me choke on my cocktail!!... Quit biting your chicken.
I've watched Matthews all afternoon, in a state of disbelief. He's gone over the bend in a rabid defense of John Kerry. No wonder MSNBC didn't let underling Lester Holt show John Kerry's press conference live, or discuss it...MSNBC was saving this plum for Matthews.
matthews keeps quoting from an AP article describing the event and Kerry's statement, but I can't find it online.
oopss, Tucker Carlson is following Matthews lead. You know, Kerry just left off a couple of pronouns.
The Democrats are so convinced of their mantra that Bush is ignorant and stupid that they take his lacklustre grades at Yale (C+ average, probably equivalent to a B+ average today) as a sign that he is stupid and lazy...while conveniently forgetting that Bush's grades at Yale were actually better than Kerry's.
Regardless of what Kerry was trying to say, his remark came off as an insult to people in the service. He should make it clear that was not his intent by offering an apology.
Chris doesn't have the $$ to win skerry in a bidding war with theresa.
He wasn't attacking Bush. He didn't say anything resembling "he left the poor etc. in the military to serve in Iraq." He said what he meant and he meant what he said. He thinks military servicemen and women are stupid and uneducated.
Mushball Meatball
Who is Chris Matthews? Does he have a TV show?
You mean Chrissy, the host of the Plame-a-thon fiasco?
The Leftie-Dem idea of "supporting the troops" is to recast them as hapless victims. Obviously men and women only enlist because they have no other options. Therefore, they are to be pitied. This is so ingrained that they forget other people don't think this way.
He's the crap in the lying sack of crap.
