Duncan Hunter goes to the top of my list for President. I've always been an admirer from afar and think he'd make a great leader.
Thanks for the post, I finally have an option for 2008.
Duncan Hunter ping
Speaking as someone living in his district...he'd better have the cleanest underwear in history, and I'm not sure he does.
That doesn't sound good. Tell us what you know.
Thanks. I am reading pros and cons on another thread as well. Other than a few well-publicized votes and a couple of interviews, I don't know very much about him and don't know what to think.
Congressmen typically do very poorly as Presidential candidates--because Congressmen spend their entire time doing favors for local constituents, and they can make a bunch of enemies without even trying. The question is always "how MUCH are they doing in favors?"
Well, I'm going to keep an open mind, for the time being.
The existing field doesn't offer me what I'm looking for, so I'll welcome another hat in the ring.
This is great. I'll be supporting him all the way and will be sure he has the funds.
He's my congressman also and he'd be a great president!
And he's opposed to the Bush/Kennedy/McCain amnesty scheme!
Representative Duncan Hunter,( R-Calif.), announces that he is exploring the possibility of a run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 in San Diego. In the background is the retired aircraft carrier the USS Midway.
SAN DIEGO East County Congressman Duncan Hunter announced Monday that he will seek the Republican nomination in the 2008 presidential race.
Hunter, R-Alpine, made the announcement on downtown San Diego's waterfront against the backdrop of the aircraft carrier Midway.
As I finish my final two years as chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and serve you, I am also going to be preparing to run for president of the United States, Hunter said.
Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Duncan GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So far all you've provided against Duncan Hunter is your "feelings" and inuendo. How 'bout some links? Or is your problem that he wants to secure the border and has proven that the fence just finished in San Diego (because of him) is working??
They want the business, yes they will. So bug off, TROLL.
Thus, the acquisition of vital weapsons systems is in jeopardy.
With people like you running around...yes they are.
He's a great asset to California, and if he becomes the candidate, he'll have my support.
We don't believe your "clean" either. Put up or shut up. Ever hear of presumption of innocence? And this guy at least is willing to go into the arena, a meat-grinder for the Conservative Cause... And the RINOs have already FLUNKED the white-glove tests. McCain is so preposterously corrupt as the Keating Five case proved.
So what do you do... but infer Guilt by innuendo. Guilt by association. Guilt by mere accusation.
H'mmmm... sounds like you're an operative from the old Clinton War Room...
GO DUNCAN HUNTER!
I'm not familiar with him but he only scores a 41 out of a possible 100 on the Conservative Index. Tom Tancredo scores 77 and Ron Paul scores 100.
He is a patriot concerned about our national defense capabilities. Duncan Hunter wanted to eliminate the Xlintonian reduction of the U.S. content requirements of Defense Manufactures. Which were always there to assure we actually HAD a defense industry sufficient to the task of a collossal national emergency. U.S. industrial self-sufficiency was vital thereto. Under Reagan, 75% of all such manufactures had to be U.S. content. Under Clinton, it was reduced to 50% U.S. content. So there goes our U.S. tax dollars...to preferentially benefit our DE-INDUSTRIALIZING the U.S. and supporting foreigners. H'mmmm.
Duncan Hunter attempted to fight the entrenched foreign interests and their domestic sell-outs who were interested only in our outsourcing. He tried to restore the content-requirement to the 75% U.S. Content level.
"W" went ballistic...and threatened to VETO any such bill. About the only veto he even ever threatened. [Until the almost meaningless stem cell veto of a couple months ago...his ONLY VETO. Out of all the things that NEEDED vetoing....]
