Scott Turner's professional football career began in 1995, when he was drafted by the Washington Redskins. His three years with the Redskins earned him a Pro Bowl nomination for special teams play. In 1998, Scott signed with the San Diego Chargers. At that time, Scott and Robin moved to the San Diego area, and have never left. In four years with the Chargers, Scott earned four "Player of the Week" honors, which was a record for the team, and led to two additional Pro Bowl nominations. He finished his career with the Denver Broncos. In all of his stops, Scott's leadership on and off the field was always evident. For six consecutive years, his teammates elected him as the team's player representative to the NFL Players Association. Scott's communication and negotiation skills were an incredible asset as he investigated player issues and participated in decision-making at annual meetings.
Scott became involved with the national political process when he secured a position as an intern in California and Washington with Congressman Duncan Hunter. Among his many experiences, he spoke often to constituents, worked on a child safety project, and met with foreign dignitaries. Scott has continued to work with Congressman Hunter and his staff since that time, and recently helped Congressman Hunter organize a search and rescue mission to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Scott also serves as an accomplished motivational speaker, and a dedicated community leader. Drawing on his successful NFL career, and his natural dynamic speaking ability, Scott often shares his inspiring message about the importance of education and goal attainment with groups of all kinds, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diego, and many other charitable organizations. Speaking recently at the California State Games to a group of over 20,000 coaches, athletes and parents, Scott described how education and a clear plan to achieve his goals helped him to succeed.
A man of faith, Scott Turner also serves as an assistant pastor at Morningstar Christian Church of San Diego, where he often speaks about God's destiny and purpose for every individual.

Where can I find a list of his positions on critical social and fiscal issues?
He's entering the game late, and it's going to be difficult for him to find 'good' staff in Iowa. I would imagine other early states have most of their key people aready alligned with an '08 Wannabe.
If you can direct me to further details I would be very appreciative.

Last two times any sitting members of congress made it to the White House were 1960 and 1920. It will be a governor or an ex vp like always. Just like Governor Bush, Governor Clinton, Governor Reagan, Governor Carter, Ex VP Nixon, Ex VP Johnson.
Why would we break the streak now?

Duncan Hunter has been a detriment to the defense of the Nation. He has been in the pocket of the specialty metals lobby. In short, for years what has been called the Berry Amendment requires all specialty metals purchased as part of weapons systems by DoD be smelted in the US. Sounds great. However, there are only three factories in the US and they are going 24/7 but yet cannot keep up with demand. The smelters do NOT have any plans to expand. Thus, the acquisition of vital weapsons systems is in jeopardy. There was a change recently to Title 10 of the United States Code which added section 2533b (if my memory serves me correctly.) That section did not help much. Hunter had proposed making the Berry Amendment more stringent but President Bush threatened to veto the bill. Bottom line: Hunter puts special interests ahead of the defense of the natio.

If memory serves me, PRIVATE INDUSTRY decided to send factories and smelters overseas.
So, domestic ones can't keep up.HMMM.
Would you rather some soldier in Iraq not have what he needs to do his job, while Union Labor produces only what they have to?

I will do it at TradeSports. There is a reason congress critters don't get into the White House. There is too much that can be thrown at them. A good example is the Port Security Bill. Frist snuck in the internet gambling ban. So, the opponent in the race who is a governor can say, this guy voted against securing our ports. Or this guy voted for banning legal activity.
That is what happens to members of congress. They have to vote on important legislation with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, and some nimrod puts in some crappy thing into it, and your choice is to vote for it because of all the good being done, or against it because of the one crappy thing. Then you get smeared in campaign ads either way. In conclusion, this is why the next President will not be a sitting member of congress.

"Help me out. When's the last time a House Rep was elected prez?"
Abe Lincoln's last political office before he became President was in the House, but he had left it several years before 1860.

Wow,
I could enthusiastically support any of the potential Rep candidates for President except McCain (not enthusiastically anyway).

Thank You, ds. That's exactly what I was looking for.
He looks to be 'the Real Deal'. Unfortunately, he's going to have a difficult time getting a foothold in Iowa because most of the leading activists are already committed for '08.
