He's extremely chummy--to the point of earmarks and the like--with Southwest Marine, National Steel & Shipbuilding Company (aka NASSCO), and other federal contractors in his district. Considering that he's only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Duke Cunningham's old district, it will raise eyebrows--and I'm not 100% certain that he's clean (mostly because I thought the Duke was as clean as could be, and I wound up feeling dumber than a box of rocks, thankyewverymuch).
Congressmen typically do very poorly as Presidential candidates--because Congressmen spend their entire time doing favors for local constituents, and they can make a bunch of enemies without even trying. The question is always "how MUCH are they doing in favors?"
