Matthews: RNC Ford Ad Plays to Worries About 'Losing White Women to Black Guys'
MSNBC-Hardball/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/25/2006 7:26:37 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

On last night's Hardball, Chris Matthews hinted at what he had in mind regarding the ad the RNC has been running in Tennessee about Dem senatorial candidate Harold Ford, Jr. Claimed Chris:

"It has ethnic overtones, sexual overtones."

Tonight, Matthews took an ugly, explicit leap down into the atavistic mud. Interviewing Sen. Dick Durbin [D-IL] - who was relatively reserved in his comments - Matthews began by asserting that the RNC's goal in running the ad was to "get their point across to perhaps angry white voters, or people who had a problem with a black senator already."

Later, Matthews embraced the absolutely worst stereotypes of a racist South, claiming the RNC was:

"playing on white sensitivities about losing white women to black guys. It was so obvious what they were doing there."

I'd encourage readers to view the ad at Michelle Malkin's site here, and judge for themselves. In my opinion, if anyone is doing his worst to stir racial animosity, it is Chris Matthews.

Aside: earlier in the show, Matthews argued that the Iraq war was intrinsically misconceived since "anybody who studied history for two weeks would have known that Third World countries don't like being invaded by white people from the west." Looks like Matthews has really got it in for The Man!

OK, I saw the ad and I find that theory a bit of a stretch.

I honestly never thought of that angle when I saw the ad. I just thought it was a reference to his going to the Playboy party.

That was my impression as well as it was with many people I've spoken to. Race only enters it if looked at with a jaundiced racial view as is the libs custom.

Usually I defer to your knowledge of Tennessee and Memphis in specific. In this case I must disagree. The COGIC women aren't gonna like this :)

Wish I had the transcript when I e-mailed Matthews and Larry King asking where their outrage was in 2000 when that ad hit the airwaves. The silence from the MSM was indeed deafening.

Evidently Chris Matthews doesn't get out much.

And he mustn't have any firsthand experience with MTV.

If the ad was racist in overtones, it affects voter blocs on both sides.

Black women...negative. Symbolically shunned.
White men...negative. Latent jealousy.
White women...negative. Soccer moms and Nascar voters want substance, not style.

Just my opinion of course.

I hope so. I keep telling people if they like Teddy Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi's values and voting records they will like JUNIOR'S. Have to keep tying JUNIOR to those two.

For me, it died when you ascribed convenience and political gain to my rejection of racism.

Consider the source. Salon Mag is full of bitter feminists of every shade and color. They would naturally seek out a woman like Edwards to quote.

That's a ridiculous statement about black men "marrying up" when they choose white women.

Thanks. :) I was interviewed by a reporter today to speak about the influence of YouTube and politics. From Las Vegas, so the concentration was on the Harry Reid YouTube sing-along.

In a public forum you said:

...Ever since Clarence Thomas married Ginny, we Conservatives haven't had a problem with interracial couples.

WE.

"We."

Speak for yourself with that racist crap.

You have to think Tennessee is full of slack jaw yokels to think the ad is racist. The newsies on the coasts really should get some "foreign" correspondants from fly over America.

Matthews: RNC Ford Ad Plays to Worries About 'Losing White Women to Black Guys'

Last year my wife and I bought twin .38's. One stainless steel and the other jet black. She chose the black one. Should I be concerned?

:p

Remember Scooter Livvy?

Remember Matthews' obsession to get Livvy? I think we're witnessing the beginnings of another manic episode in Matthews behavior pattern. How else to explain Matthews outrageous allegations of racism in that Ford ad? There's two weeks until the election, and I predict Matthews will chew on this bone the whole time. He simply won't be able to drop it.
