(Vanity) Can you help me persuade a NJ voter.
self

Posted on 10/12/2006 6:23:08 PM PDT by NECAWA

I'm trying to persuade my mother-in-law (an otherwise wonderful person) that she should vote Republican because Republicans are more likely to secure our borders and prevent terrorist attacks. She's adamantly opposed to the war in Iraq, but is very concerned about the threat posed to this country. I need very concise proof on her key areas of concern.

Is there a web site on which I can easily look up the total vote by party (as well as how each Senator and Representative voted) on such issues as monitoring likely terrorist related phone calls, tracing terrorist related money flows, halting illegal immigration, etc.? I tried the Washington Post site, but found it useless unless you know precise numeric references for legislation. (What a surprise!)

Also, I'm trying to locate a photo rouges gallery I saw several months ago, of the Democrats who would assume leadership of the House and Senate and all the important committees if the democrats were to take over.

I'll greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks, NECAWA

Tell her if the people of NJ keep voting for Democrats, they will soon have 10% sales tax and property taxes equal to 10% of the value of their house.

Even we New Yorkers will laugh at them.

First ask her why she doesn't care about all the democrat corruption in NJ. Next, why would she even consider voting for a democrat if she cares about the border and national security?

Tell her that if she continues to vote for Democrats, she will no longer be able to live in NJ because they will push the taxes to where she cannot afford it.

BTW, I live in New Jersey.

Ohmygoodness, best you can do for a New Jersey voter is put a .22 short hollow point behind either ear, and jump back, before the blood spray hits your favorite shirt.
Whythehell do you insist on wasting precious time on lost causes, and Europeans?

There seems to be only one defense...Grandholm and DeVos in Michigan have picked up on it...

They both seem to admit that they each are a lousy choice, but their opponent is even worse...

I hate to be crass, but you could show her blown up body parts, beheadings, and list all the terrorist plots the leos and other alphabets have broken up. Ask her if that's the future she envisions for her grandchildren.

Seriously though, liberals don't care about the facts.

Funny you should post this. I was thinking of sending my grandmother (a long-time straight Dem ticket voter) pictures of aborted children (gotta use snail mail, as she doesn't have a computer). Pictures are often worth a thousand words. Do you think that would be at all effective for her or your mother-in-law?

I probably should have said that she is still quite sharp but very, very senior and comfortably situated in a senior residence. She's really not concerned about taxes. Even corruption is well down the list of her paramount concerns, which are as I stated. The only way I'm going to win this one is with very concise and specific facts.

If you want a secondary source and have the time to scroll try here.
By no means efficient but it's probably in there.

Remind her of the disaster this state has become with it's corruption, high taxes and budget mess under Democrats, and ask her if she would like to see that on a national level.

You must be related to me. My mother in law lives in NJ and she just doesn't get it.

Here is some advice. Ignore her. Say hello, goodbye, thank you and leave it at that.

You might remind her that McGreevy chose his gay lover to the liasion to Homeland Security and not a single democrat legislator complained. That the democrats have used millions and millions of taxpayer dollars to give their buddies jobs at the UMDNJ....no show jobs.

That Corzine chose Zulima Farber to be his Attorney General despite the fact that she had bench warrants out for her arrest for failure to appear in court on speeding tickets. Had her license revoked, etc. Not a single democrat voted against confirming Zulima Farber.

Tell her that we need to clean up the corruption in NJ and the republicans are more likely to make a start.

You might let your grandmother know that despite laws in some states that underage girls cannot get abortions without parental notification.......Hilary Clinton is against tightening the laws to prevent children being brought out of state for abortions.

The article is in today's New York Post, BTW.

First have her read the actual resolution at the link below and she might notice WMD wasn't the only reason by far.

Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq

Next, below you will find the roll call votes from the House and Senate.

10/10/2002 Passed/agreed to in House: On passage Passed by the Yeas and Nays: 296 - 133 (Roll no. 455).
10/11/2002 Passed/agreed to in Senate: Passed Senate without amendment and with a preamble by Yea-Nay Vote. 77 - 23. Record Vote Number: 237.

She's adamantly opposed to the war in Iraq...

She wants her cake...

...but is very concerned about the threat posed to this country.

...and to eat it, too.

I need very concise proof on her key areas of concern.

This will not work, because you're trying to reach her brain, and she's operating on the basis of her emotions.

Try an experiment: tell her that someone on FR thinks she is not using her brain, and that she's just being emotional. She will be angry and upset with this, which is purely an emotional reaction.

Very sad, but that's what separates libs from conservatives.
