Rice: Palestinians deserve to live free of 'occupation'[at an event of pro-Palestinian group]
Haaretz ^ | 10/12/2006 | AP

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Palestinians deserve to live better than they do and be "free of the humiliation of occupation" in a state of their own.

"I promise you my personal commitment to that goal," Rice said at a dinner marking the third anniversary of the American Task Force on Palestine.

"There could be no greater legacy for America," Rice told the group, which describes itself as nonpartisan and supportive of a Palestinian state living side by side with Israel.

"The Palestinian people deserve a better life ... free of the humiliation of occupation," she said

"...free of the humiliation of occupation..."

I am so sick-and-tired of the 'bullshit' called 'occupied territories'!

When the British partitioned 'Palestine' around 1948, it was a 'Take-and-hold-the-land' situation for Israel, so they did just that.

Subsequent wars finally annexed the so-called 'West Bank', and the 'Gaza Strip', land on the original partition map, so that land IS Israel!

The Golan Heights (Syrian) had to be occupied to stop Syria from shelling Israeli towns. Southern Lebanon - same-shit, different-day.

Now by next April, 2007, all that will change. Their new Northern Border may extend to HIMS!

Should be interesting................FRegards

It's in writing--Rice is a proven dupe of the Palestinian thugocracy. Will all the Condi lovers STFU and stop promoting her for 2008 now?

I doubt it. I look forward to the excuses.

This is the kicker...

"There could be no greater legacy for America," Rice told the group, which describes itself as nonpartisan and supportive of a Palestinian state living side by side with Israel."

Its crap like this that tempts me to stay home on election day. But...the other side is worse. I think.

I must go back and review American history and see whether the Founding Fathers considered the goal of a Palestinian state to be the greatest legacy of America.

"The Palestinian people deserve a better life ... free of the humiliation of occupation," she said

Then why isn't Rice pressuring Jordan to give them that "better life free from humiliation" by allowing them to return to the nation of which they were citizens prior to 1948, aka Jordan? Could it just be that the Pallies are such an unruly mob of murderous thugs that no Arab nation wants them living in it's midst?

But first of all, let's make it clear about who is occupying whose land in the ME. The so-called Palestinians, and tens of millions of other Arabs, are presently occupying land which has belonged to Israel since ca 1900 BC when it was officially deeded to Abraham and his progeny through Issac and Jacob, see Genesis 15:18 and 17:19-21.

If any group of people in the ME is being denied access to land which they own it's the Israelis.

I assume you saw the Path to 9/11. There is a crucial scene that I haven't seen discussed on FreeRepublic. Maybe because Clinton can't be blamed.

We know 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis. It was supposed to be 16 of 20.

The scene involved a Saudi attempting to enter the US in Florida. A naturalized Cuban American customs officer rejects his entry into the US. (This caused United 93 to be a man short and possibly saved the Capitol when the heroes attempted to take back the plane).

Another hero is the Cuban American officer who is told in the movie by his colleague that he will get into trouble "because we are supposed to be lenient with Saudis" (near exact quote).

This story is absolutely true. I witnessed the actual customs officer when he was interviewed by Joe Scarborough on his show some time ago. He said there the same thing. They had instructions to treat Saudis deferentially. He was warned his career could be hurt by rejecting that Saudi (terrorist) from the US. The man is a real American hero. Not owned by the Saudis.

Wish we could say that of others.

The first time Bush held hands with the Saudi pric.. it jarred me but I allowed myself to rationalize it away.

The second time I became convinced.

And now Woodward's book- I understand- explains that Bush pretended to be pro Israel with Saudi acquiescence for election purposes (I guess they learned from the experience of Bush I).

There isn't a Bush Mideast policy that you can not explain if you look at it through Saudi interests.

Notice she also leaves out the fact that Gaza is now not "occupied" by Israel.

Which is why- I guess- it's so prosperous and peaceful. As the "Palestinians" deserve.

Not exactly.

This was the British Mandate

The British partition was an immediate betrayal of the Jews and British promises. The took the Western two thirds and imported the Hashemites from Arabia- giving Arabia to the Saudis- and created the Arab country of TransJorden (Now Jordan).

Then they attempted to not even give the Jews the remaining one third. The took the issue to the UN as the Jews were forcing them out.

Yeah, the video footage I saw of the Gaza strip when the Fox reporters were kidnapped sure looked like a nice place for an extended vacation,........ a vacation in hell that is.

It doesn't have to be that way you know. If the Pallies would use a little common sense and stop the terror attacks Israel would probably be amenable to helping them climb out of the poverty and filth where their Arab "brothers" have left them for the last 6 decades. But I suppose they would rather remain in that hellish situation than to act like rational human beings and stop bombing old Israeli ladies and school kids.

Why should Rice be pro-Israel, when most American Jews are not pro-Israel?

Which American interests would she speak for with pro-Israel rhetoric?

Or maybe she means "a state of their own, say, in the ruins of Iran."

in a state of their own.

If they wanted a state of their own, they could have declared one at any time during the last 13 years and it would be recognized by more countries than currently recognize Israel.

The reason they haven't declared a state is because they don't want their own state, they want Israel's state.

FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.

Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.

Whole lot of crap.

And on this point the issue is not "support" in a vacuum. It's support of one side versus another side.

Not only do most American Jews support Israel but poll after poll has proved that most Americans support Israel.

An extraterrestrial with a shred of decency who could discern truth and is not poisoned with anti Semitism would support Israel vis a vis the barbarians.

But not Rice.

Fully agreed, and I always thought that 1922 map was odd.

When the Brits dumped the 'Palestine' problem on the UN, Israel just took as much land as they thought was owed to them, including, hopefully, the land area on that 1922 map.

I guess I'm just tired of hearing the muzzies wail about being 'occupied'. They lost any claim to the land when Israel won, and they should get over it, become productive citizens, and grow oranges or something, or go live somewhere else!

(/rant) Stay safe and well, Sabramerican.............FRegards

You may have noticed that the most pro-Israel Democrat was recently thrown out of his party, in a blue state with a sustantial Jewish population--all with little anguish from US Jewry. Very few people related the conflict to Israel. Maybe I shouldn't? And a cursory read of Ned Lamont's blog-support was shocking in its overt antisemitism. Leiberman may make his way back into the Senate, but it is now very safe, politically to be anti-Israel. George Soros may not get his Senator, but he's gotten big momentum--lots more than a trial balloon.

I can remember a time, not too long ago, that there was no political safety in being anti-Israel, and the faintest whiff of antisemitism was political death.
