When the British partitioned 'Palestine' around 1948, it was a 'Take-and-hold-the-land' situation for Israel, so they did just that.
Subsequent wars finally annexed the so-called 'West Bank', and the 'Gaza Strip', land on the original partition map, so that land IS Israel!
The Golan Heights (Syrian) had to be occupied to stop Syria from shelling Israeli towns. Southern Lebanon - same-shit, different-day.
Now by next April, 2007, all that will change. Their new Northern Border may extend to HIMS!

The British partition was an immediate betrayal of the Jews and British promises. The took the Western two thirds and imported the Hashemites from Arabia- giving Arabia to the Saudis- and created the Arab country of TransJorden (Now Jordan).
Then they attempted to not even give the Jews the remaining one third. The took the issue to the UN as the Jews were forcing them out.
