DEMOCRATIC candidates have a big edge on Republicans one month before elections to decide control of Congress, a flurry of new polls said today, with ratings for President George W Bush and Congress dropping after the Capitol Hill sex scandal.
A USA Today/Gallup poll gave Democrats a 23-point edge on Republicans in the battle for Congress, while a CNN poll gave Democrats a 21-point lead.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll found Democrats held a 54-41 per cent lead in the congressional horse race among registered and likely voters, which ABC said was the biggest Democratic lead this close to election day in more than 20 years.
And a new CBS News/New York Times poll showed 79 per cent of respondents thought Republican leaders were more concerned with politics than the well-being of the teenage congressional assistants who received lewd messages from former Republican Rep. Mark Foley of Florida.
Republicans, already battered by public doubts about the Iraq war and Mr Bush's leadership, have been scrambling to contain the fallout from the unfolding sex scandal and keep it from sinking their chances on November 7.

The ONLY way the GOP gets back into it is if they start playing offense... Fight back, take the fight to the DEMS and the MSM, and you'll see the pollsswing back.
Exactly. I do not think that there was a poll where one party had 23 points advantage over another party. This poll is beyond crap.
ROTFLMAO... 23 points advantage for the democrats means that they are going to pick more than a 100 seats in the House and 15 more seats in the Senate. If they win, (big if), even the democrat do not expect to win more than 15 seats in the House and no more than 5 in the Senate. However this not going to happen because the Republican are going to keep control of both the House and the Senate.
Do doubt. I agree. I think we saw some of what is needed start today. I pray.

Gotta know what the other side's doing. Can't combat it otherwise.
I'm sure we will see many more of these junk polls leading up to the elections. Considering their source, they aren't believable at all.
I'm not worried at all. For every gay republican they think they are going to out, you can count on at least 10 gay dems for every one republican. They better get ready for the backlash.

Thanks!
Heck Barney was probably hiring em out..........
Must wear proper protection when quoting from DUmocrat polls.
TOTAL BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How ironic, the party who never met a pervert they didn't like would lead because of a so called sex scandal.
By over 20 points huh?
DeWey Wins!
It proves what satirist H. L. Mencken once said about the American people, and I quote,
"No one has ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
Polls that were taken last week I'm sure. This week they don't have that great of a chance after North Korea's crazy move.
The talk of sex and scandal might give the dems a chance but talk about real issues and they're still irrelevant. Sad state when their biggest ratings come over sex indiscretions.
This Foley debacle is going to last just a little less than 15 minutes. The funny thing is that the real meat was Woodward's book and posed more of a threat than the sex scandal and the Foley story took him right off the map.
When I see a poll that asks:
1) Are you more or less likely to vote for you incumbent Congresscritter because of Foley?
2)Are you more or less likely to vote AT ALL because of Foley?
That's when I'll believe that Foley's had an impact. Or on election day, we'll find that all of these polls are, once again, useless.
The media is setting themselves up again for another round of teeth gnashing when they wake up the day after and say "they didn't get fooled again".
