DES MOINES, Iowa --Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry lashed out Sunday against a group that bashed him during his last run at the White House.
Kerry, who made a weekend appearance in northwest Iowa, said he is concerned that Swift Vote Veterans for Truth is again resorting to "the politics of fear and smear." The group, financed by Texas conservatives, ran commercials questioning his claim of being a decorated Vietnam veteran -- the centerpiece of his presidential campaign in 2004.
"We're not going to give them an ounce of daylight," said Kerry, who is considering another run at the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.
The senator said his response to the commercials was not strong enough.
"We thought the fact that the truth was out there was enough," he said. "Clearly it wasn't."
Those same conservatives have formed another group this year -- Economic Freedom Fund -- and are attacking Democrats across the country. Part of the campaign includes $500,000 to bash Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa, who is seeking re-election in the 3rd District in central Iowa.
Boswell is being challenged by state Republican Senate President Jeff Lamberti of Ankeny in a race that has included significant cash from both parties.
Boswell retired after 20 years in the Army, including two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. But the conservative group has chosen to focus on issues ranging from higher taxes to immigration. Part of the group's money is also funding an automated telephone campaign against Boswell.....

"get ready folks, he's gonna be runnin'..........."
If he doesn't sign the form, he won't run very far. :)
I am sure it is "SEARED" in his memory...

what happened to that lawsuit v. the swifties?
John...let it go already. It's politics. If anything ever illustrated your ineptitude it is your inability to take the heat. Sheesh.
Any criticism of a Democrat is to be called "bashing." Boswell is under attack because of his politics, not his honesty.
Well that didn't work.
>>The senator said his response to the commercials was not strong enough.<<
Yeah. He didn't sign the form 180.
Hey John! We're still waiting...
Yup..
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Hey, J F'n K:
The term here is FULL DISCLOSURE. Sign the 180. That's all you have to do.
Why doesn't he just sign his 180 to prove the Swifties wrong?
By the way, it's not the swift vets who are going to be his undoing in 2008. His trouble is going to roll in on two huge thunder thighs.
PS-Wouldn't it be great if there were a military challenger to Frenchie who could take that issue away from him?
What would he run on then...Knowing how to marry rich?
It doesn't matter though, the DUmocrats will not forgive him for losing last time. He won't get a second chance to fail. Gore maybe, but not this traitor.
"We're not going to give them an ounce of daylight," said Kerry. . .
which translates to "no way am I going to sign MY Form 180!!!"
The French Poodle is yapping up a storm lately.
"We thought the fact that the truth was out there was enough," he said. "Clearly it wasn't."
Heh, heh...
So much material here. Does Jay Leno lurk?
And passing for Lurch's twin brother isn't UGLY??
