A former House page says he had sex with then-Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) after receiving explicit e-mails in which the congressman described assessing the sexual orientation and physical attributes of underage pages but waiting until later to make direct advances. The former page, who agreed to discuss his relationship with Foley with the Los Angeles Times on the condition that he not be identified, said his electronic correspondence with Foley began after he finished the respected Capitol Hill page program for high school juniors. His sexual encounter was in the fall of 2000, he said. At the time, he was 21 and a graduate of a rural Northeastern college.

You're doing a grave disservice to many honorable men. You're also going out on a limb, assuming that there are no female "pervs" in the halls of Congress, imho.

Congressman is the trivialist distinction for a full grown man.
All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.
It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.

Still, leading young men into perversion is not quite the same thing as exploiting young women. A young woman will probably recover and go on to live a decent and normal life. The same is less likely to be true of a young man. That's of course assuming the young men he was grooming for sex after they became "legal" were not full fledged homosexuals before he started his "recruitment" campaign.

After reading this article, I am thinking Foley should get his job back.
If he really only "scoped out" the pages he would most like to initiate with once they turned of age and left for their hometowns, what has he done wrong? The whole scandal was about Foley messing with 1)UNDERAGE, 2)CONGRESSIONAL PAGES. If he wasn't doing either, than what is the difference between his actions and any congressman picking up a chick in a DC bar?
Or are the Dems just gay-bashing? (Hee hee.)

On that Web page, he identified himself as being 21 years old and said he had been attending college at the University of California, Berkeley. He also identified himself as a House page from September 2001 to June 2002. He would have been 16 and 17 then. He said he was going to Oklahoma to be deputy campaign manager for Istook’s gubernatorial effort, according to the Web site.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, said he goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.

Well, this helps Foley. He can't be charged with 'enticing' a minor...he was actually led on.

However, this article highlights Foley's admittance that he's gay and his emphatic denials (through his lawyer) that he is not a pedophile and has never had sex with a minor – a fact Foley made known to Edmund in his IM's:

But we know the the objective of the media and the rats is to blame Hastert for Foley's sex-life, therefore Hastert should resign.
We need to hear our GOP leaders stand up for themselves, because the enemy won't stop repeating Foley's peccadilloes, despite the fact that those peccadilloes have nothing in particular to do with Hastert or the rest of the GOP.
Foley resigned for sending improper emails, and there's an investigation into his conduct, but that doesn't stop the media and the Democrats from demanding Hastert's resignation despite the non-existent sexual relations between Foley and underage pages. Indeed, there isn't even a credible allegation of sexually explicit emails with underage pages and even the IM's in question were with an 18 years old ex-page.
Therefore the Rats and the MSM appear to want Hastert to resign because Foley is a gay man.
