Vanity: John Cougar's "Our Country" Chevy Commercial

Posted on 10/05/2006 1:48:52 PM PDT by slowhand520

Anyone else peeved as I am at this nonsense? I am assuming it is a patriotic song. The images you see during this commercial are Vietnam War protestors, the peace sign, Nixon waving goodbye before he gets on his helicopter, and Katrina flooding. What a depressing commercial. Kind of defeatist if you ask me. Thoughts?

Snip: It glibly reads, "German engineering, Swiss innovation, American nothing."

You do realize that I am referring to the series of ads Chrylser ran in the 1980s, right?

I am pretty sure they were an American company back then, what with Iacocca running things and all. Hell, thanks to the bailout, it was an American-Taxpayer owned company back then.

Left wing media (that includes ad agencies) sees America as depressed, repressed, hopeless, faithless, worthless, dependent. That view seems to be reflected in this ad.

I like Toyota, but their trucks are toys.

I hate that commercial, I also hate the ford commercial where the dad is "allowed" to spend the weekend with the family before the wife driving the ford drops him off at his house and drives away.

I can't stand that ad. It makes me feel like I'm being set up.

My Chrysler 2001 Grand Caravan has been a trooper with over 100,000 miles. She's starting to feel her age and my next vehicle will be smaller, but I'm sure going to give another Chrysler vehicle preference.

My dad is a GM retiree. I get away with it because my FIL retired from Chrysler. ;-)

My next vehicle may be the first time I not buy American. Between the commies at the UAWs and the idiots who shove purse-swinging "entertainers" in our faces, they can kiss my money goodbye.

I have a Astro AWD that I bought new in 99. Worst decision I ever made. By the time I finish typing this, something else will have broken on it.

After watching that sick ad, 24 years of Naval service would prevent me from buying ANYTHING associated with GM.

Amen, brother! As a divorced dad I see the ad as playing to the FemiNazis and the enabling judges who have destroyed the American family.

John Cougar can shove it. And Chevy, too, for using that Bush basher in their commercials.

A commercial like this is driving people (literally!) to buy Toyotas and Hondas assembled in the USA with 75 percent US-made parts.

Only in idiotic lamebrained liberal leftist consumers. Right thinking Americans are ignoring this insult to our Country, I would hope.

Why get upset? It's just a dumb thing on tv. Most things on tv are dumb.

Well seeing as Honda Trucks are made in California, and Toyota trucks are made in, I think Ohio, you'ld be buying American. Since Chevys, Fords, and Dodges are assembled in either Mexico or Canada.
