Vanity: John Cougar's "Our Country" Chevy Commercial

Posted on 10/05/2006 1:48:52 PM PDT by slowhand520

Anyone else peeved as I am at this nonsense? I am assuming it is a patriotic song. The images you see during this commercial are Vietnam War protestors, the peace sign, Nixon waving goodbye before he gets on his helicopter, and Katrina flooding. What a depressing commercial. Kind of defeatist if you ask me. Thoughts?

Well I guess they did win their first Big 10 game in two years.

I remember about 20 years ago when Northwest broke the record for most consecutive losses, someone had spray painted on one the Freeway Marker signs so that it read

..Interstate
......294
Northwestern
........0

I think GM has totally lost its corporate mind.

Corporate America has been infiltrated by the left who push their political indoctrination on the employees and consumers.

People thing corporations are "capitalist" in nature but there are parasites on the inside who despise the companies and want to take them down from the inside. "Turn the tide". It is not done in the interest of the employees nor the investors; it is done in the goal of advancing the liberal agenda.

If your company expects you to undergo "diversity training", it is expecting you to submit to political re-education (of the order of "homosexuality is not immoral").

I agree, the Chevy commercial utterly sucks.

For a quick antidote, view the new Ford Mustang commercial. Takes place on a loading dock in Hamburg as a new Shelby Cobra is being uncrated. The German dockworker says to the car owner, "You couldn't vind a Cherman car you like?" The car owner says, "No, I couldn't find an American speed limit I liked." Next frame: Shelby Cobra on the Autobahn.

Wouldn't know. The only chevy I ever owned (a 1970 Impala) blew an engine, and I've never owned another chevy since.

Well, now that I think about it, the Chevy Corvette might give the G6 a run for it's money (and probably beat it, too).

Read YOUR post, then ask yourself about someone being childish.

Oh, and thanks for validating what I've found to be the mentality of many of those who drive Chevy - rude, obnoxious, "I own the road so get off of it" children.

Reminds me of those stupid Bennetton ads (sp?).

Coke has a new commercial out using T-Rex's "The Slider" as the music. I emailed them and told them the song was about sexual intercourse.

I haven't seen the commercial since. But of course, I don't watch much TV except for College Ball and maybe the pokes.

Mellencamp is a Bush bashing ahole! The commercial doesn't make sense I didn't think. If you want a song about America go to a true blue country singer like Trace Adkins not Mellen head!

If you knew nothing about US history and someone made you watch that commercial you would think our country was formed in 1962
