Rutgers ranked in new AP poll [Ohio State remains No. 1, followed by Auburn and USC]

No joke. Rutgers is ranked.

The Scarlet Knights, long a college football laughingstock, moved into The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in 30 years on Sunday.

No. 23 Rutgers (4-0), led by tailback Ray Rice, the fourth-leading rusher in the nation, is off to its best start since 1980 after beating Howard 56-7 on Saturday.

"I'm not going to downplay it. It is significant considering where we started," Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said. "It shows we're making progress in the right direction."

The Scarlet Knights were one of three new teams at the bottom of the new media poll, which was mostly unchanged at the top.

Ohio State is still No. 1 with 59 of a possible 65 first-place votes. No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Southern California and No. 4 West Virginia each received two first-place votes.

Auburn had 1,513 points and USC had 1,491. The Tigers lead over the Trojans grew nines points from last week.

No. 5 is Florida, followed by Michigan, Texas, Louisville, LSU and Georgia. The only change in the Top 10 was No. 9 LSU flip-flopping with No. 10 Georgia.

Have you ever been to these boards? According to many there, Auburn is going to lose Thursday. They're as delusional as liberals.

I plan on laughing for hours as the Tigers smoke those road kill chickens.

They've really only gotten burned 2 times....2003 and 2004...but even then they were able to explain it away....

Teams with one loss can't complain quite so much I don't think.

But to have several undefeated teams with legit shots at the title (only TCU can be the mid-major so to speak this year)...that would be a perfect storm

Four SEC teams in the Top 10 is an indication of just how powerful that conference is. There oughta be a rule written in the NCAA bylaws that requires the SEC champion to play in the national title game. LOL.

I visit www.rivals.com but stick to the boards of other, more respectable SEC teams.

Just remember, if you shake a Gamecock more than twice you're playing with it.

This is the ranking system I like best. It's a compilation of independently run computer rankings. Some are very flaky, but taken as a whole this ranking system has impressed me a lot for the 8 years I've been following it.

Yeah, well go ahead and look past Louisville to the Rutgers game 'cause the Mountaineers are going to loose to the Cardinals anyway.

"I'm hoping there are multiple teams undefeated....

If we can get Ohio State, USC, Auburn or Florida and West Virginia or Louisville, maybe the BCS can explode...."

I would love nothing more than to see that happen. The BCS is total crap, and it needs to die a horrible death. If your scenario fails to happen, then the next best thing would be for TCU and Boise St to go undefeated and bust the BigCrockofS!@t wide open!
