The Fox News Channel shakes up its anchor roster a little today, with former WABC/ Ch. 7 correspondent E.D. Hill moving from "Fox & Friends" to the network's "Fox Live" anchor team.
Former CBS News anchor Gretchen Carlson will take Hill's place as a co-host of the freewheeling morning show.
"Gretchen's warm personality and dynamic energy are a perfect fit for 'Fox & Friends,'" Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming, said in a statement.
Also starting today on FNC is "Live Desk With Martha MacCallum" at 1 p.m., replacing "Dayside," and a full hour of news with Jane Skinner at 2 p.m.
No fan of E.D. here either. She is way too full of herself and too often tried to be too smart for her own good. I think being on the radio with O'Reilly has gone to her head. She likes to hear her own voice way too much.
Gretchen Carson came to FNC about six month or so ago. FNC resently redesigned their webpage and the bios are not available anymore :(
She'll be missed.
She termed herself a "conservative Democrat" but based on what I saw of her, she would not be very welcome in the Democrat Party of today.
She was always gracious, very intelligent and a highly classy lady.
She was far brighter than her co-hosts, especially Kilmeade who should be relegated to the locker room and commenting on sports and jocks - subjects he is far more familiar with than international or national politics. HE is the clown of the show and probably kept around for amusement. Judge Napolitano is pretty interesting philosophically - I can't figure where he is coming from - but I wish he stop slicking back his hair and learn to laugh a bit more sedately.
The black guy they had on weekends was a real jerk. That Kelly fellow who replaced him is far more intelligent and classy.
I remember seeing her on one show when she said she and her family had been out target or trap shooting ovr the weekend or fishing.
ED knew all about Juanita Broaddrick, and wasn't afraid to tackle that subject either.
I will miss her.
Several weeks ago, There was a thread on how to improve Fox....Get rid of Julian and Hill, dump the lame Dayside and replace worthless weekend fillers with "24" Reruns.
Roger Ailes read the thread.
I usually flip over to another staton When Kimberly Guilfoyle is on. I can't stand her show
This is like the thread from some alternative bizarro universe...
People saying E.D. was the dumb one? E.D. was clearly the one on the Fox & Friends set with gravitas - totally on the ball, witty and warm - one of the few FoxNews babes with substance (she was probably about the only one allowed to wear non-leg revealing fashions on a regular basis). The show will suffer immensely without her. Gretchen is way too stiff to come close to replacing E.D.
And some of the suggestions for substitutes! Linda Vester? Gag me with a spoon! Lauren Green? Nice and competent, but way too awkward and uncomfortable in the middle chair on Fox & Friends. Juliet Huddy? Seems like a skanky party girl.
Kiran Chetry clearly should have gotten the gig - she's got the brains and the warmth and is THE smokin' hottest of all the FoxNews babes!
Glad to see a man of reality on this bizzaro thread. Thank you, for the view to the news. Fox is going to take a hard negative ratings hit in the west, just by the ED bump to breaking news. She is absolutely obnoxious, in combo with an already terrible morning line-up.
Sorry I'm a bit late in pinging some of these articles. I've been away for a few days.
StarFan: Thanks for the heads up on these "shakeups" at Fox News Channel.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
It's hard to believe, but, they were together as a team for about 7 years, huh?
I was hopeful EDs replacement would be Gretchen. Of all, she was the one who stood out because when she was filling in on Fox & Friends, she seemed at ease and Steve and Brian enjoyed having her with them. If Steve & Brian had any input, I'm sure they ranked her up there.
"She's great, and I'm terribly upset that Fox would break up such a great team."
Me too. Weren't they #1 on the early morning shows? Why mess with it if it "ain't" broke?
I remember when ED subbed for Allison Costarini first thing in the morning when the two-anchor crew sat at glass desks with their legs hanging out. I liked ED instantly for her attitude, her smile and her warmth. Fox & Friends was formed not too long after that, with Steve and Brian.
Maybe when the kids are a little older ED will get to come back. Personally, I'd LOVE to see her move to weekends! The Saturday and Sunday crews feel like uncomfortable shoes. ED could really pull things together.
I really missed her this morning. ED, if you read the posts here, please know we hope for the best for you!
>I also love the exotic looks of Harris Falkner. <
Harris is one of the, if not the most, attractive women in television news.
she reminds me of a lawyer who was a prosecutor for a few weeks before he was invited to seek employment elsewhere. (he was not that good and he was allowed out of his unwritten committment all new prosecutors are asked to give to stay a few years.)
He now advertises himself as a "former prosecutor".
Oh, I must have missed that! I saw where they said Linda Vester wasn't around but not Bridget. I agree she always seemed decent and pleasant, not over the top, and I'll bet a conservative. Hope she'll return.
