Bill Clinton: ‘We Did Nothing Wrong’

Despite his impeachment, Gennifer Flowers, Whitewater and the other problems that have beset Bill Clinton’s political career, the former president still maintains he did nothing wrong.

During a wide-ranging interview with David Remnick of The New Yorker magazine – excerpted earlier on NewsMax.com – Clinton “started to talk about Whitewater, about Kenneth Starr, about how allowing the appointment of a special prosecutor had been ‘the worst decision’ of his presidency,” Remnick writes.

“He talked about old enemies in Arkansas, about the Resolution Trust Corporation, about Gennifer Flowers, about Susan Schmidt of the Washington Post.” Despite Clinton’s claims he is not looking back, “you could see just how deeply he still feels the attacks of the late ‘90s,” Remnick disclosed. He noted Clinton’s anger is palpable as his “carotid artery seemed to inflate like a jammed garden hose” as these topics were discussed.

But when asked if he thought it would be unbearable to go through all of it again if Hillary ran for president in 2008, Clinton replied: “I don’t care, because we know we did nothing wrong.”

Surprisingly some of Clinton’s closest supporters think he has more to blame than the so-called “Clinton haters.”

Remnick quoted one of Clinton’s closest aides, former Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, regarding Clinton’s state of denial:

“The method he uses to live with himself is to make a clear and precise argument that this was something that others had done to him and not that he had done to himself.

“Because of his brainpower, he can create a logic for anything.

“But deep down he would be such a good person if he could just accept the fact that he screwed up and made mistakes, and move on.”

Well to see the 'new me', look at profile :). That's my semi-official "Just turned 50" picture from late last October.

We all make mistakes. I voted for Dukakis - but that was back when I was young, stupid, and a liberal!

"We did nothing wrong"

But sir, you didn't do much right, either, and you certainly never took a strong personal stand against those who were killing Americans overseas, and attempting to kill them in New York.

Jeepers! With all the negatives, how did this jerk got to be President in the first place?

That's easy, there was no independent media, blogs, and talk radio had not matured. In short, here were few voices who could be heard above the NYTs led MSM.

If Kerry had ran in 1992, he could have gotten away with all of his lies, but not now, and hopefully not ever. Though Howard Dean and others have stated what they will do to opposition forums/news networks/radio hosts if they ever gets power. Dean and his socialists in power represent everything Orwell warned us about in "Animal Farm" and "1984".

Seems to me that Clinton had 8 Years during which he lied that he tried, and now he says President Bush had 8 Months and did nothing before 9/11!

You maybe being sarcastic but I think we can only elect truly great leaders once we set criteria for voting.

What might be some of these criteria ?, IQ level, self-supporting status, tax paying persons, etc.?

"What is so crazy is that with a straight face, he pointed that finger and said Bush had 7 monthes to get him, and he, Clinton, only had 8 years. Surely to goodness, people see the idiocy in that statement."

Becky, you are so right. It's clear more than ever that comrade clintoon is completely insane. I never realized how far gone he is, mentally. He's nothing but a pathological liar and he's not even good at it anymore. He can't cover up his mistakes and he's very immature. He also looks like he has either a drug or alcohol problem. He looks sickly.

I don't think the dims will even consider hitlery for 2008. The worst thing for our nation is to have those two whackjobs back in the White House. ARGH!

"But deep down he would be such a good person if he could just accept the fact that he screwed up and made mistakes, and move on."

I see that the Chief Ejaculator continues to inspire Premature Ejaculations. Ooops, that may be a bit too close to the pit.

What I mean is that the author is not helping Clinton or everyone else by providing excuseses, or hope. What I've heard of recoveries -- of honest repentance from deeply bad habit -- is that they require that the person to reach a point, a point in his soul of we can call "no hope", that is a point of complete despair over *his own* behaviour, first. The more people provide him outs and short-cuts from reaching that, -- in this case by suggesting that "Gee Wiz, your goodness is already there deep inside of you, don-cha-know!" The more the person is prevented from coming face to face with ... himself.

"And I am afraid that is what is going to happen again in '08. And there is so much more at stake now than there was then. Our very survival."

I want to see Conservative Republicans pull another 1994 election out of their hats. It can be done if our Candidate is strong enough.

I wasn't being sarcastic, but I didn't really think my thoughts on the female vote was an option either. I wouldn't seriously advocate against them voting. I don't think it would be right to do so, even if I did fully buy into the premise I raised.

You raise some interesting points there.

My suggestion of having minimum requirements to be allowed the privilege of voting was not based on male or female.

I think more important is intelligence and financial fortitude. Land ownership, tax payer...what else ?

He did nothing wrong? So that explains why someone would go to jail rather than testify about his dealings in whitewater.

Does not matter what you did. It is the rest of the sisterhood that is causing the problem. Call it Soccer moms, mortgage moms or what ever, your sisters are the problem.

***

They aren't my sisters. I refuse to be tarnished with the same broad brush as others of my gender.

I'm curious...where are the statistics on how many idiot MEN voted for Billy Boy?

“Because of his brainpower, he can create a logic for anything.

LOL. No logic in that statement. Rationalization requires little brain power. If, as his armies of scyophants believe, he is so damn smart, his numerous lies would be more clever and far less transparent.
