A SPANISH High Court prosecutor says six suspected Islamic radicals, arrested in 2003, planned to attack a U.S. military base in southern Spain, the newspaper El Pais said on its website today.
The prosecutor is seeking a 32-year sentence for the Algerian accused of leading the group, Mohamed Tahraoui, and 22 years each for the other five, also Algerians.
They were among 14 people arrested in Spain in early 2003 on suspicion of belonging to a group of Islamic radicals, believed to be linked to al Qaeda, and plotting attacks in Spain

They must have planned on hitting Moron AB. It's in southern Spain.
Feed the bastards to the sharks.
What have sharks ever done to you???
Why do we have a base in Spain. Is it because they are such a good ally and always supportive of what we do?
Only 3 years to get to court, i'm impressed-compared to the U.S.
Or the naval base at Rota perhaps?
<< Why do we have a base in Spain?
Very strategic point near Strait of Gibralter I would presume
Why would they attack a U.S. military base at this point? When the Muslims reconquer Spain within the next few years, they can merely expel the Americans.
A blow for the ROT (Religion of Terror)
Rota is not far from their either..
They were built there in the late 50's, definitely strategic. AFB in Madrid (central Spain), Navy in Rota (South Atlantic Coast)
These are strategic locations, and we've had the agreements for these bases for decades now. The current Spanish government may not like us, but the local economies benefit a lot from these bases so Spain is not going to complain.
We still have a base in Spain for the same reason we still have a base in Cuba, strategic location.
They are attacking a US base there now b/c it's in Al-Andaluz (or close to it).
I'm glad they got the bastards, but this is unique for them in that they actually selected some kind of base instead of women and children.
