?: (Helman's last press conference: Immigration is a top priority and leaders say it's dead. Would you like to re-visit this or will you wait for new Congress.
Bush: I strongly believe that in order to protect the border Congress has to pass a comprehensive plan that gives additional $$ to secure the border and that peole are sneaking in here and that we stop that.

Steve Holland of Reuters: "Senator McCain says your plan puts troops at risk." it actually PROTECTS our troops.... it not only protects them from the terrorists, but it also protects them from the likes of the ACLU- sad that our own troops need to be protected by American Organizations!!!

Geneva isn't set up for "soldiers" who are the actual planners of attacks. It was meant for a time when the heads of state and only top military were planners. A "soldier" did not have comprehensive military strategy information.
I wish this was better communicated.

Do you want the blood of thousands on your hands. I think that part needs to be pointed out to them ... because they don't have a clue

Powell et. al. want to keep the ambiguous language of Article 3 and not define specifically what is and is not covered for these kind of non-state actor prisoners. It was the SCOTUS that incorrectly made this linkage and now the President and Congress must define what is covered and not covered. In some respects, we must treat AQ prisoners better than American citizen murderers and traitors in our own prisons.
Do you know what it means not to commit "Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment?" How does a CIA interrogator deal with this prohibition?

I don't think it's frustration. He's telling John and co. if we get hit again are you going to take the blame?

This is the first question that has not included the words either "Powell or McCain". So far, we are 2 for 3.

Just the act of locking someone up could be construed as a outrage on human dignity. This common article III was a political hot potato that the international community failed miserably at clarifying, and if we must use it, it must be explained and expressed in law.
Simple common sense that the Senators are ignoring in order to play petty political games.
They do so at their peril. This president is dropping the hammer.

McCain had best again realize that Bush can make or break his presidential ambitions in 2008. If GWB wants to truly stop McCain, he can do it. Easily.
