President Bush Job Approval (@47%)
Rasmussen ^ | September 14 2006

Posted on 09/14/2006 9:00:46 AM PDT by jmc1969

Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. Those are by far the best numbers for the President since mid-February.

The spike is fueled largely by a resurgence of support among the President’s base. Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans now offer their approval. At its low point earlier in the year, just 66% of the GOP faithful approved of his job performance.

In January and much of February, the President’s Job Approval ratings were in the mid-40s. Then, they fell sharply and have hovered around 40% ever since. Fifty percent (50%) of men and 44% of women now say they somewhat or strongly approve of the President’s performance. Overall, 24% of Americans Strongly Approve and 38% Strongly Disapprove.

Since this is just the third day of a bounce, it remains to be seen whether this reflects lasting change or is nothing more than statistical noise. The Rasmussen Reports daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for today’s update were completed before President Bush’s address to the nation two nights ago. Friday’s results will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted after the speech and after the 9/11 anniversary.

9/11 - Aggressive campaigning - People starting to pay attention instead of just believing MSM lies.

The real approval rating is actually higher.

I agree. What is coming out of the dimrat party is truly frightening and the base is rallying in response. Get the GOP through the election with their majorities intact then go ahead and tear into them again. But NEVER allow the seditious, defeatist left to take power again. That alternative is simply too dangerous.

"Oh, it's probably just gas."

Nevertheless I like to think it is a teeny bit due to using the words Islamic fascism.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...we may even pick up some seats, never mind losing the majorities to the Rats. The closer it gets to election time, the less the voters like Democrats.

The MSM would just hate to not be able to mention the President's low approval ratings.

I can see the wording now...

"The unpopular President Bush, despite his record-low approval ratings, and notwithstanding widespread dissatisfaction over his handling of the hopeless quagmire in Iraq and the sluggish economy at home, has apparently received a slight temporary bounce in some recent polling, but..."

It's all pretty simple. Presidential approval ratings have been almost directly inversely proportional to the price of gasoline for as long as I can remember.

______

I've been saying this for months. It's all about the price of a gallon of gas.

Gas is high? The economy stinks. Gas is high? It's the war in Iraq.

Build a fence. No amnesty. Veto some spending.

60% approval.

Fortunately for Republicans, they have Democrats to run against. If they had sane people with any kind of American values as opponents, they'd be finished.

Worth repeating.

That's true. Before the Yom Kippur War and the Arab oil embargo, there was almost no sentiment to impeach Nixon and his poll numbers were above 50%. Shortages and long gasoline lines turned the public against the president.

Yes, the only thing poll numbers will be good for is to give the Rats and MSM excuses for not supporting Bush's plans if Bush's poll numbers are low.

Our gasoline price today in MO for regular was 2.19. It is getting better and better each day. The price goes down as Bush's poll numbers go up.
