It's all pretty simple. Presidential approval ratings have been almost directly inversely proportional to the price of gasoline for as long as I can remember.

I've been saying this for months. It's all about the price of a gallon of gas.


Gas is high? The economy stinks. Gas is high? It's the war in Iraq.

That's true. Before the Yom Kippur War and the Arab oil embargo, there was almost no sentiment to impeach Nixon and his poll numbers were above 50%. Shortages and long gasoline lines turned the public against the president.

Our gasoline price today in MO for regular was 2.19. It is getting better and better each day. The price goes down as Bush's poll numbers go up.
