A U.S. Congressional adviser is turning up the volume on his long-standing warnings that terrorists who have set up camps in the Balkans now easily can reach into Europe, telling reporters in Serbia that the idea now has a name – "Balkans 2020."

Congressional adviser Yossef Bodansky, director of the U.S. House of Representatives Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare since 1988, told Slovenian Finance that the goal of the campaign is to set up terrorist camps in Bosnia, Kosovo, Sandzak and Croatia.

He said at least five intelligence agencies now are working to track people and arms arriving from Arab nations, in hopes of preventing that plan from becoming reality, according to a broadcast station report.....

The majority of Bosnian Muslims grew up in a society that was, essentially, Western-oriented (which Yugoslavia was, despite Communism). The majority of them do not support Al-Qaida. But you only need a handful of religious fanatics and you've got a huge problem on your hands. Such fanatics exist in large numbers over there (both local and foreign). Many have been recruited by Al-Qaida and some of them are bound to kill innocent people across Europe and the USA. It's not a question of IF but WHEN they're gonna do it.

We're not ignoring any real red flags, Banat, as demonstrated by the arrest by Bosnian authorities of Bektasevic and his cohorts.

We are, however, based upon recent experience, inclined to view as false the red flags which you and your friends are waving, since they've turned out to be more about pushing a Serbocentric agenda (everybody else bad, ergo we good, so cut us some slack for what we did under Milosevic) rather than one concerned with actual anti-terrorism.

After all, first and foremost, Belgrade's duty is the security of Serbian citizens and the BIA, DJB and others know how to deal with terrorism.

As soon as the Serbs start acting in an honest manner, we'll start treating them like honest partners. As things stand right now, with Serbian politicians misrepresenting everybody else's position on Kosovo to their electorate and their craven unwillingness to come to grips with Milosevic's criminal legacy as embodied by Ratko Mladic, the time for treating Serbia as an equal still hasn't arrived.

Call it Serbophobia if it makes you feel better, but it's simply a case of our treating Belgrade in a manner consistent with its behavior.

As for Miloshevich - he's dead, and so is his regime. Mladich is God knows where. It's ridiculous to accuse Belgrade of protecting him after having sent the entire military-political leadership of Yugoslavia/Serbia -- including Miloshevich -- to the Hague.

There is no serious evidence that Belgrade knows where Mladich is.

Then Belgrade can deal with an independent Kosovo however it sees fit - denial up to independence and then kicking and screaming appears to be the plan if folks around here are any indication. Oughta work out just great.

Excuse me? Taking individuals into custody and then extraditing them isn't the same thing as providing incentives for indictees to "take one for the team". The Serbian government at this time is reduced to negotiating with and bribing indictees to travel voluntarily to the Hague, and if they don't want to go, then they don't go.

Consider the cases of Pavkovic, Lazarevic, Djordjevic, and Lukic, all indicted in October of 2003. As soon as they were indicted, the Serbian government was obligated to arrest them and extradite them to the Hague.

Did this happen with any of them? Of course not. The men remained free until 3 of them were persuaded to turn themselves in to the Hague in 2005, while Djordjevic high-tailed it out of the country, and has been reported living as a fugitive in Russia.

So, again, Serbia's past actions are being used to judge it today - if Mladic continues to screw Serbia by flipping Belgrade the bird and not going to the Hague, then so be it. It's Belgrade's responsibility, and Belgrade will continue to be held accountable for the failure.

Honest manner??? Our administration since early 90's has not been honest about the Balkans, certainly about Kosovo..the UN is as corrupt as the Albanian Mafia...oh my, they work with the Albania Mafia...go figure. honest?? Especially if we are thinking about "instigating" an incident in Mitrovica to provoke the Albanians....hmmmmmmmm???

Get it through your royal thickness: forcing ethnically based autonomous states is a failed concept. They may be useful tools for Soros style financial exploitation and other criminal enterprise but nothing else good can come of them.
