A Nigerian man had his right hand severed in Saudi Arabia on Saturday after he was convicted of stealing in the Great Mosque in Mecca, Islam's holiest shrine, the interior ministry said.
Kurba Thani Mohammad was found guilty of "committing the crime of pickpocketing inside the Great Mosque" at an unspecified date, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.
Mohammad was sentenced to the amputation of his hand, and the punishment was carried out in Mecca, it said.
Saudi Arabia applies a strict form of sharia, or Islamic law, that provides for severing the hand for theft. The death penalty is meted out for murder, rape, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking.

Guy walks up with what looks like a filet knife and makes a circular motion at the wrist and ankle, severing both hand and foot in about 1 second each.
Could somebody remind me why, in a civilized world, we allow this satanic death cult to still exist?

It seems to me so many of these Muslim extremists are very young, what have they learned from thier families about ISLAM? the schools? the mosque's they attend? If ISLAM is such a peaceful faith that teaches respect for other religions Judiasm, Christianity, why are most of them so hell bent on destroying Israel and the USA?
Why don't Moderate Muslims or muslims that say ISLAM is based on peace announce at the Mecca gatherings with a loud speaker that Muslims that Kill innocent Americans and Israeli's will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, they will not reap 73 Virgins, they will not be handed a pot of gold, instead Allah will send them to the burning lake of fire to burn and churn and feel extreme pain for eternity?

Abandonment of one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause.
As with any other sort of totalitarian regime (and islamic rule is no different), they can tolerate NO dissent at all. As soon as any people get the idea that there's a better way to live, they must be put to death, both as a symbol of what happens, and to keep those ideas from spreading.

Even though there might be a philosophical legitimacy to some of their punishments,more than a few are barbaric and the rest are carried out in a barbaric fashion.
Much as I dislike Sharia, I can't see myself stumping for a thief.
It's still not as bad as what the British (and French) used to do, thus our constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.

I think only Musims who truly believe in democracy are the ones that will be instrumental in combatting the furture generations, that acts of terrorism in the name of ISLAM is dead wrong.I believe we as the USA will only be able to
assist Arab Governments who have Peace in mind.

When you fight a people willing to kill themselves because of some reward they truly believe is waiting for them that's a pretty hard concept to overcome.

Take their description of "paradise," what they are hoping for is really just a whorehouse with an open bar.
In the Koran, Muhammed claims to have been visited by an angel while he was in a cave. However, he also talks about how he was and remained terrified of the angel. In Judeo-Christian scripture, EVERYTIME anyone was visited by an angel, the very first thing the angel did was alleviate their fear and instill a sense of peace and calmness. This can only lead to the conclusion that whatever visited Muhammed, it was not an angel of our Lord.
I'm being totally serious, I was thinking about this last night and I cannot think of one single thing in history done in the name of Islam that was not barbaric and in keeping with the Koran. I'll be the first to acknowledge that Jews and Christians have done many horrible things through history and claimed that it was in the name of God, but we can look back and see that these were men who tried to portray their own crimes as the will of God -- no voice of reason like this exists for Islam.
