CNN Poll: More Americans blame Bush for 9/11
Clinton News Network ^ | 9/11/06

The percentage of Americans who blame the Bush administration for the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington has risen from almost a third to almost half over the past four years, a CNN poll released Monday found.

Asked whether they blame the Bush administration for the attacks, 45 percent said either a "great deal" or a "moderate amount," up from 32 percent in a June 2002 CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.

But the Clinton administration did not get off lightly either. The latest poll, conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for CNN, found that 41 percent of respondents blamed his administration a "great deal" or a "moderate amount" for the attacks.

That's only slightly less than the 45 percent who blamed his administration in a poll carried out less than a week after the attacks.

Still, most Americans appear to be fatalistic, with more than half -- 57 percent -- saying they think that terrorists will "always find a way to launch attacks no matter what the U.S. government does."

The poll was carried out August 30 through September 2 by Opinion Research Corp. with 1,004 American adults questioned by telephone. The sampling error for the questions was 3%

and the Clinton crew takes credit for what she alone did, if not for her actions, God knows what would have happened on New Year's eve.

Big deal! In a world where nearly 35% of Americans polled think 9/11 was an "inside job" they can scare up another 10% to add to the blame Bush side.

What I find telling is that in a poll conducted before the Clinton fuss about the documdrama, 41% blamed Clinton. What I also find conspicuously absent from this report is the breakdown between "great deal" and "moderate amount."

Personally, I think the blame lies with the terrorists, but what do I know? How about we blame Canada!

"We will never know how many lives were saved due to the diligence of customs agent Diana Dean." True, but I also think the public response to the capture of the millenium bomber illustrates how bogus a lot of this woulda, shoulda, coulda stuff really is. With the exception of the Seattle mayor cancelling their New Year's Eve celebration, the rest of the country went on as usual. I remember discussions contrasting Mayor Guiliani's style with that of Mayor Stamper? (I think that was his name Norm somethig or other.) People went out into the streets of NY as usual. Yet one of the Jersey Girls wants us to believe that had her husband been aware of some vague theory about airliners being used as missles, her husband wouldn't have been in the WTC. Really? He would have chosen to avoid the WTC for the rest of his life? I'm betting that really would have put a damper on his career. Yeah right! All this mulling over what woulda/coulda/shoulda been done is so meaningless.

Still, with the huge impact that the DNC lies via the Goebbels-theme, the public does actually think Bush is guilty. That they don't absolve Clinton is still not going to be propagandized by the MSM. It is nuts, of course. Even with the ABC film, which has some inacurracies, the voting public which sees it, should at least recognize the incompetence of the Clintonistas over 8 years not 7 or 8 months as W had before the strike!

I keep telling every one we should use the exact time President Bush was in office [that is what the Democrats would insist on]. It was exactly 7 months and 19 days.

Not counting that he was 56 days late in getting his administration together.

"So OBL and his associates do the attacking but don't get blamed?"

That's the way the media reports it, why not?
And Michael Mooreon smeared Bush on whole 911 thing and Howard Dean lets float the absurdity that maybe someone new - does the media call them on it or correct the record? Of course not - partisanship above patriotism.

We need a poll that asks if the media are to blame for terrorism. IMHO they share more blame than any politician.

9/11 first awakened me to the danger that Islamofascist terrorists pose. Then, I saw leftists and liberal Democrats blame the innocent (Bush administration, America, our military) for the crimes of the guilty (Bin Laden, Jihadists). I saw the ACLU tell us we had no right to give law enforcement agencies tools to fight terrorism; I saw Islamic apologists say we had no right to question the flaws of Islam in creating Jihadist terrorism; I saw liberal Democrats put partisanship over patriotism and blame America and Bush for the deaths and violence that terrorists inflicted in Iraq and other countries. I saw those Democrats link arms with extremist Cindy Sheehan, who called Bush a terrorist, and propagandist Michael Moore, who compared terrorists in Iraq to American minutemen.

I saw Democrats time and again put partisanship over patriotism and trying to drag Bush down instead of building America up. Some Americans would rather see the terrorists win just so Bush will lose.

I came to realize that the left in this country is not merely wrong, they are positively dangerous. 9/11 has changed me indeed.

Besides the fact that it is CNN, I would think that it would be possible that people who are not aware of news and politics like we are at FREEPERS would blame President Bush because the only thing they know is that it happened on his watch. If 9-11 did not receive the attention it did then perhaps studies would have found that President Clinton did have more to blame. The American public on a whole don't investigate or study this stuff so they only get information from word of mouth and spoon feeding by media. That is pretty close to true and why I am not even a bit surprise by this poll.

Do you have a source for that 35% figure that think it was an inside job? I need such a source badly... I'm in an argument with a lefty tossing out that the conspiracy lunatics are a "fringe" and not representative of the mainstream left. Any help would be REALLY appreciated, from you or anyone else who could provide a poll (whatever the outcome) on the "inside job" theory.

That's not fatalistic, that's realistic. Nothing is ever perfect; the only way to totally avoid it is if the Moslems simply stop attempting. I'm glad the fairyland of the welfare state hasn't totally deluded every American in these polls.

I can't give a source, but I can attest I've seen that even very recently, perhaps a poll posted on TV in the last week.

P.S.: You might want to search on "Penn & Teller" because they had a "B!$#s!$%" show that went off on "conspiracies" - and it included lots of the morons who think Bush or other US gov types had everything to do with the towers falling. They might have mentioned such a stat.

Ten percent of the people believe Elvis will get the letter you mail to him.

The other ninety percent who believe Elvis won't get the letter, think it's Bush's fault.

BTW -- My son told me one of the Jersey Girls is actually peddling the demolition theory. I told him that was fine with me. I think, the more the Jersey Girls talk, the more they discredit themselves. Their own words do more to harm them than anything Coulter could say about them. I seriously believe we should just stand back and let people like the Jersey Girls and Cindy Sheehan flap their gums. I get a mental picture of a rabid boxer and Bugs Bunny just casually dodging the gloves until the boxer defeats himself. Just stand by and let them self-destruct........
