Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV, Multi-National Force - Iraq senior spokesman, said that Coalition aircraft saw the terrorists loading a mortar tube into a white sedan near a known terrorist safe house. The Coalition aircraft continued to watch as the terrorists dug up munitions from a weapons cache and then fired four mortars at Iraqi civilians Saturday morning. The men then drove the vehicle to another secluded area. Coalition forces, determining that striking the terrorists at this location would prevent innocent casualties, dropped a guided bomb from the aircraft onto the vehicle, killing all six terrorists. Secondary explosions showed the terrorists had other explosives in and around the vehicle, Caldwell said. During a press conference in Baghdad on Wednesday, Caldwell showed reporters aerial video footage of the air strike. We continue to see success in killing and capturing those terrorists who carry out attacks against the Iraqi people and Iraqi security forces, Caldwell said. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Iraqi security forces and Coalition forces, these terrorists will no longer be able to conduct acts of terror in an attempt to discredit Iraqs democratic process. |

SECONDARY!
Keep an eye on this thread . . I'll mirror it at youtube.
Build a terrorist a fire and he is warm for one night, set him afire and he is warm for the rest of his life.
The Iraqis hung 24 of the rabid bastards today too!
I agree, they could have whacked the whole team. How many civilians died while they were firing that mortar? Seems dumb to me.
72 virgins x 5 with the smell of cordite and saltpetre.
That's a downer!

Maybe they do...:)
I believe you are onto something, and I do believe that the military knows that as well. I am willing to bet you solid money that the US government is feverishly trying to develop lower-cost unmanned survellance vehicles that can loiter for 24-48 hours on station without human intervention, unseen at high in the stratosphere.
I also believe they are trying to develop small, bug-sized surveillance devices that can be flown short distances, are innocuous and will be able to transmit images.
I recently saw a real device, the size of a baseball, that looks like a rock. It can be thrown into an area. It rights itself and begins transmitting imagery with movable cameras.

What I find most interesting is that there is a secondary explosion, as if some of the mortar rounds are cooking off in the truck as it burns.
