KATIE COURIC last night underwent her second on-air colonoscopy.
Watching the procedure was not a horribly painful event. Nor was it an experience I would volunteer to repeat any time soon.
For her very first night as CBS News diva, Katie spent a half-hour looking as if she desperately had to go potty. Her back was so stiff as she looked into the camera, pop-eyed and self-conscious, I feared it would snap.
Her face was Botoxed beyond normal human endurance, proving that even pampered, overpaid news babes possess the courage to suffer for their art.
And for the first time in history that a female was allowed to deliver a network's evening news alone, Katie chose to wear an unfortunate white blazer - the result, no doubt, of some jokester lying to her face when Katie asked, "Does this make me look fat?"
And the day after Labor Day, to boot!
For this they pay her a reported $15 million a year?
The best that can be said about Katie Couric was that she did not trip over her 5-inch stiletto heels when she toddled across the floor of the set, crossing her bare legs like some ridiculous tramp.
The worst that can be said about Katie is that she did not fall flat on her face - which would have provided a much-needed break in the tension.
Western civilization did not exactly end last night as Katie took to the anchor chair. But the changing of the guard did represent another kind of cultural change.
As of yesterday, network TV has proven it no longer feels the need to pretend that its nightly news broadcast is sober stuff, populated by earnest men and women with serious reporting backgrounds and working blow-dryers.

I thought she looked more like a white-faced raccoon, with all the heavy makeup and the large white circles around her eyes. She has a perfect face for radio.
Well, we know her colon was empty as well as her head..........
She has a perfect face for radio.

Now that's good.
All I want out of a news is hard raw facts on both sides of an issue. No fluff, no opinion, no gloss.
I thought Carole Simpson did that for ABC for a while ??
I could swear SHE was female.
They don't have to attack her personally. She's a silly, perky broadcaster put in a serious slot that she can't fill- and all this is CBS's executives fault, not hers. That's all, make fun of her for that; or the fact that she is an America hating loon.
Darn, I hate I missed it. /sarc

Don't let facts get in the way of hype !!
Hey...... the show/newscast last night WAS pathetic, but I see green in Andrea Peyser's soul because Katie has very fine legs. This is reading like that hit piece by the Washington Post b*tch who hit on Katherine Harris by saying she applied her make-up on with a trowel.
Andrea is a great reporter.... but this stinks. She's just jealous. Andrea........ go to the gym.
It would have been a lot of fun to watch Couric's discomfort during her bowel prep. Colyte is naaaaaaaaasty.
African-American too boot!
Who cares about this? I know NO ONE, liberal or conservative, who watches the network evening news!
For 15 million a year, See-BS better get some bare legs every night!
Gee, I'm so glad to be here. I'll bet your glad I'm here too. I've waited so long to be here and I feel so important already. The show is all about me, so let's forget about the news and lets all be liberal/progressive friends together.
/Sarcasm OFF
"They don't have to attack her personally."
Oh, you've never heard of a cat fight? Why do I get the feeling that Andrea Peyser is settling some old scores? Nevertheless, sounds like Katie opened herself up to some criticism. Just a guess, didn't watch.
Didn't Barbara WaWa anchor the news at one time...??
She should just end the "newscast" by saying:
"This is Katie Couric ......... on your nerves."
