Since most politicians change their views over time and especially when they are thinking of running for the Presidential office, I am curious where he stands on the issues today. Everything I read that is negative, stems from the past.

All said and done, this guy is one hell of a leader.

In 1999, Giuliani was asked his views on abortion. He said, "I'm pro-choice. I'm pro-gay rights." When asked about banning Partial Birth Abortion, the then-Senate candidate replied, "No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing."

Giuliani's liberal northeast politics will not play well with conservative Republicans in flyover country. Voters in the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary will not vote for Rudy. Giulinai`s liberalism will not play well with religious and social conservatives. Rudy is pro-abortion, pro-partial birth abortion, pro-gun control Republican who supports special rights for homos and illegal aliens. Giuliani also left behind a $2-billion deficit and a $42-billion debt after ending his reign as mayor of NYCity.

Welcome to FR? Rudy may be one of the Moderate Republicans (RINOs) who's had a conservative epiphany on 9-11 and is now more conservative than many give him credit for... maybe.

Rudy with a strong conservative running mate would be a good choice, or maybe with Tommy Franks for the GWOT "gravitas."

At some point the Rudy-ophiles are going to have to ask themselves whether they really want some 20%-30% of Republicans working their asses off to see to a GOP defeat in a Presidential election.

This for a guy who - if he simply changed parties and held the same beliefs - would be publicly lynched by those same Rudy-ophiles.

Seriously, this is like the Katherine Harris nutsos. How much are you willing to sacrifice, and for how long, in favor of someone who doesn't even NEED to be the nominee?

Rudy on the ticket: no GOP time, efforts, money, or votes from me. Not for quite a while. No scare tactics about Democrats being worse will change that - none.

There is a good chance I'd vote for the damn Democrat just to cut our losses and try again in four years instead of dealing with what would then be perpetual GOP liberals from them on.

Once they prove they can nominate a liberal and win, we have seen the last Conservative candidate.

For Social/Cultural/Moral Conservative voters like myself, Giuliani means at least a temporary divorce from the GOP.

I guess that leaves us morally deprived, socially inept morons, to carry your water for the only viable candidate that can beat Hitlary, hands down.. It's fun watching the single issue, suicide, sycophants, circle firing squad, target practice before every election.. Pity you can't muster up enough petition votes to draft a real Conservative like Pat Buchanan, or Alan Keyes to carry your banner.. :)

McCain's loyalty is to himself, and himself only.

He seems to cringe whenever he's asked to say anything bad about a Democrat, but has no problem trashing fellow Republicans.

Rudy's a fierce partisan who raises money for GOP candidates of all stripes and who explains why Republicans are BETTER than Dems on security.

Position papers will only take you so far. McCain found that out in 2000.

I can think of more reasons I don't want Rudi to be the nominee than I can think of reasons that I do. But a couple of things stand out about him. He is cool under fire. He believes in Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment: Speak no evil of a fellow Republican. Can we say that about McCain? As for his liberal social positions, while you are holding your nose in the voting booth, ask yourself if you would rather have Rudi or ANY Democrat?

He has/is spending plenty of time in the South so he can get enough southern votes to supplement the Northeastern and Rust Belt nomination votes that he is very likely to get. Throw in a few from the West and he is the nominee. The biggest danger is conservatives split from the Party and Shrillary is elected. God forbid.
